Title: Senior Linux Administrator – SUSE / Automation / Java POS

Required Technical Skills:

Linux / SUSE/ Automation / Java POS

• 8–10+ years of Linux administration experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).
• Good knowledge of Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Linux networking, storage, filesystems, users/groups, permissions, services, and process management.
• Experience with Linux patching, upgrades, package management, and security hardening.
• Strong shell scripting skills using Bash.

Automation

• Strong experience in infrastructure and operational automation.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible or similar automation/configuration-management tools.
• Ability to develop reusable scripts and automation workflows.
• Experience automating server provisioning, configuration, patching, monitoring, and operational tasks.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices is desirable.

Java / POS

• Good understanding of Java-based applications and POS systems.
• Experience supporting Java application environments from an infrastructure/production-support perspective.
• Ability to troubleshoot Java application startup issues, logs, connectivity, configuration, and performance problems.
• Understanding of Java runtime environments such as JDK/JRE.
• Experience with application servers/middleware such as Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss/WildFly, or similar is desirable.
• Experience supporting retail/POS environments is an advantage.

Additional Skills

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, FTP/SFTP, and other common protocols.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
• Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and business-continuity concepts.
• Familiarity with Git and source-code/version-control systems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
• Knowledge of containers such as Docker/Kubernetes is desirable.
• Strong incident, problem, and change-management experience.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Linux system administration/infrastructure support.
• Strong experience in enterprise production environments.
• Experience working in geographically distributed teams and supporting business-critical applications.
• Experience in retail/POS environments is highly desirable.
