Summary

Role Title: CAM Programmer

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

micro1 is engaging CAM Programmers to contribute expertise on a customer’s project, focusing on developing advanced CNC toolpaths and instructional materials for CAM best practices. In this role, you''ll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Develop precision CAM toolpaths in Autodesk Fusion 360 for 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machining operations
  2. Program complex milling and turning geometries across metals and plastics, optimizing for material, tolerance, and machine capabilities
  3. Simulate and verify toolpaths to identify and resolve potential issues such as collisions, gouging, and inefficient cycle times
  4. Configure, tune, and document post-processors for various CNC machines (e.g., Haas, Makera)
  5. Create detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and strategy documentation for downstream manufacturing professionals
  6. Author clear, instructional content, walkthroughs, or written guidance on CAM programming techniques and best practices
  7. Incorporate feedback from first-part results and inspection reports to iterate and refine CAM outputs

Preferred Qualifications

  1. 5+ years of hands-on CAM programming experience, with demonstrated proficiency in Fusion 360
  2. Portfolio or sample work highlighting multi-axis programming and toolpath strategy
  3. Strong understanding of GD&T, DFM principles, and post-processor configuration
  4. Expertise programming for advanced CNC environments, including experience with a range of materials (aluminum, stainless, titanium, plastics)
  5. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  6. Experience creating or delivering CAM training content (formal courses, tutorials, mentoring, or online instructional materials preferred)
  7. Ability to document and communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively
