This role will be responsible for defining and managing data models within a Delta Lakehouse architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and integrity. This position will also have a pivotal role to play in the implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data management practices across Warburg Pincus. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake, Data Vault), data management principles like metadata management, data quality, data stewardship etc., and excellent analytical and communication skills to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop enterprise data models to support business intelligence, analytics, and operational reporting.
  • Define and implement best practices for data modeling in a lakehouse environment, ensuring models support business needs effectively.
  • Architect data structures for performance, scalability, and governance, leveraging concepts such as Star Schema, Snowflake Schema and Data Vault.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytical, and operational data needs, ensuring models are aligned with business objectives.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers to translate logical data models into optimized physical data models in Microsoft Fabric and Delta Lake.
  • Develop data governance frameworks, including metadata management, data lineage tracking, and data quality assurance.
  • Define and maintain canonical data models for key business domains, ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Guide ETL/ELT strategies to ensure data integrity and optimal performance in Fabric's Medallion Architecture.
  • Establish and document data modeling standards, ensuring adoption across engineering teams.
  • Review and optimize existing data models, identifying areas for improvement in performance, maintainability, and business alignment.
  • Advise on the selection and implementation of data modeling tools and data management solutions.

Key Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or database design.
  • Expertise in data modeling methodologies, including Dimensional (Star/Snowflake), relational and Data Vault.
  • Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases, including SQL, NoSQL, and Delta Lake architecture.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, and Medallion Architecture.
  • Experience designing data models for enterprise analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
  • Strong SQL skills for data modeling, query optimization, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and integration strategies.
  • Understanding of cloud-based data architectures, preferably in Azure (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, etc.).
  • Self-starter, Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and translate business needs into data models.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of KQL for querying data logs in Azure environments.
  • Experience with Graph Data Modeling and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
  • Exposure to machine learning feature stores and analytical model design.
  • Knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) for building EDM dashboards.

Why Join Us?

  • Shape the enterprise data architecture for a modern data analytics platform.
  • Work with cutting-edge data technologies in a Microsoft Fabric environment.
  • Engage directly with business leaders to craft data solutions that drive actionable insights.
  • Be part of an innovative, high-impact team delivering best-in-class data models.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.
