Job Title : Mainframe QA Tester (MVS COBOL / JCL)

Location: Columbia SC (Remote)

Position Overview

Contribute to the quality and reliability of critical Medicaid systems by testing software changes that support federally and state-mandated requirements. This role focuses on Mainframe quality assurance, test scenario creation, test execution, results analysis, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support across interconnected systems.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, adaptable team player who can work with minimal supervision, collaborate effectively with technical and business teams, and navigate an environment where requirements and priorities may be ambiguous.

What You'll Do / Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project team members to test software coding changes to Medicaid systems-related data.
• Create test scenarios and execute tests to validate system changes.
• Analyze test results and investigate discrepancies between actual and expected outcomes.
• Work with project team members to resolve differences identified during testing.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in coordination with business users.
• Participate in testing with users, external healthcare providers, and trading partners as needed.
• Coordinate with other agencies and internal subsystems as required.
• Assist with business, process, and technical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with project team members and collaborate with technical staff and other contracted personnel.
• Adapt to changing needs and contribute to project goals with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Mainframe.
• 4+ years of experience with MVS COBOL.
• 4+ years of experience with JCL.
• 4+ years of experience with software testing.
• 4+ years of experience creating test scenarios.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Adaptability, flexibility, self-motivation, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and collaborate as part of a team.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL.
• Experience with Serena ChangeMan.
• Experience using Excel as a testing tool.
• ISTQB certification.
