Job Description
A major financial institution in Plano, Texas is seeking a Google Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer to help modernize, automate, and support its cloud infrastructure. This role will focus on building resilient cloud environments for high-priority applications using Google Cloud Platform, GKE, container platforms, and Linux-based systems.
The engineer will be responsible for supporting cloud deployments, improving infrastructure automation, managing CI/CD processes, and maintaining stable production environments. You'll partner with software engineering, QA, and operations teams to streamline releases, strengthen reliability, and improve the overall performance of cloud-based applications.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on background with Google Cloud Platform
- Experience administering Google Kubernetes Engine environments
- Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Experience supporting Docker Swarm
- Strong Linux administration experience
- Experience creating and supporting CI/CD workflows
- Familiarity with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or comparable deployment tools
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure security and networking concepts
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or comparable professional experience
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices
- Experience automating tasks with Python
- Experience working with RESTful APIs
- Exposure to OpenShift and OpenShift Container Storage
- Experience administering PostgreSQL environments
- Experience supporting Elasticsearch
- Ability to work effectively both independently and with cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and maintain cloud workloads on Google Cloud Platform and GKE
- Operate and support Kubernetes and Docker Swarm platforms
- Manage and harden Linux servers across multiple environments
- Develop and improve CI/CD automation for application releases
- Provision and configure infrastructure using automation tools
- Write Python automation scripts and integrate internal and external APIs
- Partner with engineering, QA, and operations teams throughout the deployment lifecycle
- Diagnose infrastructure, application, and performance issues
- Maintain and troubleshoot PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch systems
- Improve platform uptime, scalability, and deployment consistency
- Maintain technical documentation covering architecture, standards, and operating procedures
