Job Description
A major financial institution in Plano, Texas is seeking a Google Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer to help modernize, automate, and support its cloud infrastructure. This role will focus on building resilient cloud environments for high-priority applications using Google Cloud Platform, GKE, container platforms, and Linux-based systems.

The engineer will be responsible for supporting cloud deployments, improving infrastructure automation, managing CI/CD processes, and maintaining stable production environments. You'll partner with software engineering, QA, and operations teams to streamline releases, strengthen reliability, and improve the overall performance of cloud-based applications.

Location: Plano, TX
Contract Duration: 12+ months
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on background with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience administering Google Kubernetes Engine environments
  • Solid knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Experience supporting Docker Swarm
  • Strong Linux administration experience
  • Experience creating and supporting CI/CD workflows
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or comparable deployment tools
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure security and networking concepts
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or comparable professional experience
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices
  • Experience automating tasks with Python
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs
  • Exposure to OpenShift and OpenShift Container Storage
  • Experience administering PostgreSQL environments
  • Experience supporting Elasticsearch
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities
  • Build, deploy, and maintain cloud workloads on Google Cloud Platform and GKE
  • Operate and support Kubernetes and Docker Swarm platforms
  • Manage and harden Linux servers across multiple environments
  • Develop and improve CI/CD automation for application releases
  • Provision and configure infrastructure using automation tools
  • Write Python automation scripts and integrate internal and external APIs
  • Partner with engineering, QA, and operations teams throughout the deployment lifecycle
  • Diagnose infrastructure, application, and performance issues
  • Maintain and troubleshoot PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch systems
  • Improve platform uptime, scalability, and deployment consistency
  • Maintain technical documentation covering architecture, standards, and operating procedures
