Job Summary

We are seeking a highly specialized Android/Linux Platform Engineer to design, build, and secure a custom embedded operating system platform. This role sits at the intersection of low-level systems engineering, mobile platform development, and device security, with a strong emphasis on kernel-level development and OS hardening. The ideal candidate will go beyond traditional Android application development and bring deep expertise in AOSP customization, Linux kernel engineering, and secure device architecture. This individual will play a key role in shaping the long-term platform strategy, ensuring the system remains secure, scalable, and resilient in high-security and mission-critical environments.

About the Group / Project What We Do

This team is focused on building a secure, embedded platform that interfaces with connected systems to collect, process, and protect sensitive data generated by modern devices.

The platform leverages a ruggedized hardware solution paired with a highly customized Android-based operating system, enabling secure communication through multiple interfaces such as wired connections and short-range wireless protocols.

Key focus areas include:

  • Secure data collection and processing from connected systems
  • Data sanitization and privacy protection workflows
  • Preventing unintended telemetry or external data transmission
  • Supporting use cases across regulated and high-security environments

The engineering team currently includes experts in reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and offensive security, and is expanding its capabilities in forward-looking platform and product engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom Android/AOSP-based operating system components
  • Build and maintain Linux kernel modules and low-level system services
  • Own and enhance the device's secure boot chain and system integrity controls
  • Develop and enforce SELinux policies and OS-level security frameworks
  • Implement system-level encryption, data protection, and hardening strategies
  • Contribute to device management architecture, including provisioning and updates
  • Support secure OTA (over-the-air) update mechanisms and patching processes
  • Improve and scale CI/CD pipelines for OS and platform-level deployments
  • Collaborate with security researchers to integrate defensive capabilities into the platform
  • Serve as a technical leader for OS/platform architecture and long-term roadmap
  • Operate effectively in a rapidly evolving environment with evolving product requirements

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and system-level customization
  • Deep expertise in Linux kernel development and embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Kernel modules and device drivers
    • System-level debugging and performance optimization
  • Experience implementing or managing:
    • Secure boot chains
    • SELinux policies
    • OS-level security and hardening
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with low-level system programming
  • Experience with embedded platforms or custom hardware environments
  • Strong understanding of device security, encryption, and data protection
  • Ability to take ownership of complex systems and drive architectural decisions
  • Comfortable working in an environment with evolving priorities and ambiguity

Bonus / Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Android infrastructure or platform security (non-UI/mobile app focus)
  • Background in cybersecurity, vulnerability research, or secure systems engineering
  • Familiarity with device management frameworks and fleet-level deployments
  • Experience with secure update frameworks and firmware lifecycle management
  • Exposure to Rust or modern systems programming languages
  • Prior experience supporting regulated or high-security environments (e.g., government, defense, or similar contexts)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience or ability to mentor engineers

Thanks,

Sudhanshu Srivastava
