GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:Oversee the development and evaluation of technical information for existing and new quality programs from received materials through finished goods shipping. The Quality Engineer will provide key leadership in improving the quality of products, services, and industry standard processes through continuous improvements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing, test, and repair methodologies
- Maintain existing ISO9001/AS9100 quality system
- Prepare and assist with quality system audits
- Review contracts for QA requirements and standards
- Identify inspection trends and determine methods for corrective and preventive action
- Generate deliverable failure analysis reports for test failures of product
- Interface with visiting customer inspectors
- Conduct technical audits on production processes and coordinate with Manufacturing on process corrections and improvements
- Review engineering change notices, purchase orders, and product drawings for approval
- Provide audit support for out-sourcing suppliers
- Identify inspection methods and standards
- Assist with receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection as needed
- Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD
Other Job Functions- Obtain training to stay current with quality system standards
- Identify training needs and provide training for applicable personnel
- Uphold and maintain the integrity of the Quality Policy Statement
- Work independently without supervision
- Other duties may be assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Experience and SkillsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: - Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards
- Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
- Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary
- Ability to adhere to workplace rules
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to identify, use, and provide training on standard measuring tools of the inspection trade
- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, drawings, parts lists, wire lists, and other related engineering documents
- Understanding of shipping and receiving, receiving inspection and final inspection
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- BS in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Computer Science or related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer
- Experience with electronics components, circuitry, and electronics
- Experience in ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality system environment
- Experience in ANS1-ASQCZ1.4 and MIL-STD-105
- Experience in J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Office and production environment
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding and small hand tools)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- 20/20 vision and color vision with or without corrective lenses
