JD

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Fabric Data Architect to lead the architecture and design of a modern enterprise data warehouse platform. The Data Architect will define the end-to-end data architecture across bronze, silver and gold layers and provide hands-on architectural guidance to the Fabric Platform Administrator during the Microsoft Fabric environment setup and configuration.

The ideal candidate must combine strong Microsoft Fabric architecture expertise with practical experience in environment planning, workspace configuration, security, connectivity, CI/CD, data modeling, ingestion frameworks, and technical leadership.

Required Qualifications

·       10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, data warehousing, or enterprise analytics.

·       Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.

·       Experience designing Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, notebooks, pipelines, and medallion architectures.

·       Demonstrated experience guiding Microsoft Fabric environment setup and administration teams.

·       Strong understanding of Fabric workspaces, capacity, RBAC, security, connectivity, monitoring, and deployment practices.

·       Experience with Azure DevOps, Git repositories, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.

·       Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and data integration.

·       Experience integrating Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, or comparable enterprise source systems.

·       Experience with PySpark, SQL, Delta/Parquet, notebooks, and metadata-driven ingestion frameworks.

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, and enterprise data governance.

·       Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder-management, and technical-leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft Fabric Environment Setup Guidance

·       Guide the Fabric Platform Admin in setting up and configuring the Microsoft Fabric environment.

·       Provide architectural recommendations for Fabric capacity, tenant configuration, workspace structure, naming standards, and environment isolation.

·       Guide the setup of DEV, QA, and PROD workspaces, including workspace topology and promotion strategy.

·       Advise on Fabric capacity sizing, workload allocation, monitoring, throttling, and scalability.

·       Guide configuration of Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Spark, notebooks, pipelines, and Power BI components.

·       Provide direction on workspace-level security, role-based access control, Entra ID groups, service principals, and credential management.

·       Support the Fabric Admin in validating connectivity from Microsoft Fabric to Oracle, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, and other source systems.

·       Guide the setup of Azure Key Vault integration, secure connection patterns, and credential rotation.

·       Advise on Azure DevOps repository structure, branching strategy, release pipelines, deployment stages, and approval gates.

·       Review the completed environment and confirm that it meets architectural, security, development, and operational requirements.

The onboarding plan specifically assigns the Fabric Platform Admin ownership of environment provisioning, workspace management, RBAC, source connectivity, capacity monitoring, and CI/CD. The Data Architect should provide the architecture, standards, technical decisions, and validation necessary for the admin to implement these areas successfully. Data Architecture and Design

·       Define the end-to-end architecture for the Microsoft Fabric data platform.

·       Design the Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers, including naming conventions, storage structure, partitioning, and audit standards.

·       Create high-level and detailed architecture diagrams, data flows, and solution design documents.

·       Define Lakehouse, Warehouse, and OneLake design patterns.

·       Develop data ingestion architecture for batch and incremental data loads.

·       Define strategies for change data capture, incremental processing, delete handling, schema evolution, and schema drift.

·       Design reusable ingestion, transformation, orchestration, logging, monitoring, and error-handling patterns.

·       Establish scalable architecture standards that can be followed by Data Warehouse Engineers.
