Summary

Position Overview
This role supports a major financial services customer's engineering organization, which operates within a security and network segmentation focused program. The team's work combines Linux-based infrastructure support with automation development, keeping data synchronized and reconciled across multiple internal systems and environments.

The engineer will build and maintain shell- and Python-based automation, support PostgreSQL-driven data workflows, and work within established CI/CD and enterprise change control frameworks balancing hands-on development work with the discipline required in a regulated, security-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities
Build, administer, and support tooling and services hosted on team Linux platforms
Develop, maintain, and extend automation using shell and Python supporting the team's engineering and security workflows
Build, maintain, and enhance medium to large data set synchronization automation between multiple systems and environments
Develop, manage, and maintain efficient PostgreSQL statements and tables embedded in automated process workflows
Maintain team code using established CI/CD pipeline requirements, including code scanning and packaging
Support and enhance the team's Apache-based web portal and related services that interface with team data sets
Operate within enterprise change control management processes, assessing risk and security exposure/impact due to platform changes
Independently develop and debug up to medium-complexity Python and SQL code, without full reliance on generative AI to produce the deliverable product

Required Qualifications
Comfortable operating on Linux platforms day to day
Strong shell and Python scripting ability; must be able to write and troubleshoot code independently
Working experience with PostgreSQL comfortable with live databases and real, production-grade workloads
Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, including code scanning and packaging
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining small/team websites on Apache
Experience moving and reconciling data across or between multiple datastores or environments
Ability to maintain several hours of overlap with the Eastern US business day

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in financial services or another regulated enterprise environment
Exposure to network segmentation and zero-trust security mindsets
Familiarity with formal change control frameworks

Tools and Technologies
