Job Summary
CLIENT is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, testing, and deployment of a state-of-the-art digital platform hosted on AWS. The engineer will develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot, while contributing to a world-class platform supporting a wide range of digital applications.
The role will work within Cat Digital on backend services and will involve hands-on development, technical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, architecture, application support, and collaboration across Agile project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications hosted on public cloud platforms, primarily AWS.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and support teams.
- Mentor developers and conduct code reviews to maintain high software quality standards.
- Lead development of new functionality and applications on cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams.
- Identify and resolve complex application and technical issues.
- Drive application development focused on delivering valuable business features.
- Establish and promote software development best practices, coding standards, and quality processes.
- Develop structured application/interface code and maintain technical, operational, and user documentation.
- Contribute to application architecture and design decisions.
- Design and implement applications using relational and NoSQL databases.
- Work with messaging and event-streaming technologies.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Debug and maintain applications running on Linux/Unix platforms.
- Collaborate effectively with technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
- No degree with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.
Technical Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience with Java.
- Strong experience with Java 17 or higher.
- Hands-on experience developing Spring Boot RESTful APIs.
- Experience deploying and maintaining applications using public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience with microservices architecture and application architectural patterns.
- Experience designing and developing well-defined RESTful APIs.
- Experience with messaging/streaming technologies such as:
- AWS Kinesis
- AWS SQS
- AWS SNS
- Apache Kafka
- RabbitMQ
- Apache ActiveMQ
- Azure Event Hub
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including:
- AWS Aurora
- AWS RDS
- AWS DynamoDB
- PostgreSQL

- MongoDB
- Elasticsearch
- Cassandra
- Redis
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as:
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
- Experience debugging and maintaining applications in Linux/Unix environments.
Preferred / Additional Experience
- Experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software at scale.
- Experience with event-driven architecture.
- Hands-on experience with API tools such as Swagger, Postman, and Assertible.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
- Experience with Cucumber and Selenium, including integration with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AWS technologies such as:
- API Gateway
- ALB/NLB
- Fargate
- Lambda
- S3
- CloudWatch
- Experience with AI development tools is a big plus.
