Java Developer - LMD

Location: Sunnyvale, California (Partial Remote)

Role Overview

This position is for a Java Developer to work on last-mile delivery acceleration projects. The role involves optimizing the process of delivering packages from stores to customers, supporting functionalities like real-time order tracking, delivery scheduling, and route optimization. The successful candidate will contribute to a system that integrates with various third-party delivery services to enhance coverage and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovation strategies, processes, and best practices.
• Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects.
• Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to develop high-level design.
• Lead a small group of 3 to 4 engineers for assigned engineering projects.
• Lead and participate in end-to-end service implementations, data feeds ingestion, and orchestration.
• Troubleshoot business and production issues.

Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 6 years of experience in Java, Kafka, Spring, and Web Services is required.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Core Java, Kafka, design patterns, and concurrency concepts, including partitioning and consistent hashing.
• Hands-on experience with object-oriented design principles, such as selecting between an interface and an abstract class, and REST API design with a focus on versioning and backward compatibility.
• A deep understanding of Kafka's concurrency model.
• Understanding of concepts like the CAP theorem, eventual consistency, Spring Boot annotations, the principle of dependency injection, and Spring JPA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NoSQL.
• Previous experience in the retail industry.

Work Environment

This position requires the candidate to be onsite in Sunnyvale, California, for 2 days per week. The technical environment includes Java 8, Spring Boot, Microservices, Spring Cloud, Spring Data JPA, Apache Kafka, Splunk, Docker, Jenkins, Azure, GitHub, Jira, and IntelliJ.
