SAP PP Functional Lead
Location: Chicago, IL (On-site role)
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced SAP PP Functional Consultant / Lead to support a complex SAP landscape spanning production planning, quality, warehousing, supply chain planning, analytics, integration, and EDI.
The role will be critical to the stability and successful operation of key business processes. The ideal candidate will combine strong SAP functional expertise with excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and provide functional leadership across SAP Production Planning (PP) and related business processes.
- Work across an integrated SAP landscape involving:
- SAP PP
- SAP PP/DS
- SAP QM
- SAP WM
- SAP IBP
- SAP SAC
- SAP CPI
- EDI
- Analyse business requirements and translate them into robust SAP functional solutions.
- Lead functional design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
- Support the integration of production planning, quality, warehousing, supply chain planning, analytics, and external systems.
- Provide functional oversight for 21 EDI transaction sets, approximately 240+ integration maps, and around 100 WRICEF objects.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks across critical SAP processes and integrations.
- Work closely with technical, integration, data, and business teams to ensure end-to-end process stability.
- Lead issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support change management, solution governance, and release management activities.
- Provide guidance and leadership to functional team members and coordinate activities across multiple teams.
- Act as a key point of contact for business stakeholders and client leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP PP with proven functional expertise.
- Good understanding of SAP PP/DS, QM, and WM processes and their integration with PP.
- Experience with SAP IBP and supply chain planning processes.
- Exposure to SAP SAC and SAP analytics capabilities.
- Strong understanding of SAP CPI and SAP-integrated business processes.
- Strong understanding of EDI processes and transaction sets.
- Experience working with complex integration landscapes involving multiple interfaces and mapping requirements.
- Experience with WRICEF objects and working effectively with SAP technical teams.
- Strong experience in requirements gathering, functional specifications, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Experience working in complex SAP transformation, implementation, or support environments.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
This position requires a candidate with excellent stakeholder management and team leadership skills.
The successful candidate should be able to:

- Communicate complex SAP concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead cross-functional teams and drive issues through to resolution.
- Manage priorities in a high-risk, business-critical SAP environment.
- Demonstrate strong ownership, accountability, and decision-making capabilities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior SAP PP professional who can operate beyond a purely functional role, understands end-to-end SAP integrations, and can provide both hands-on functional expertise and strong team/stakeholder leadership.
