Our client, a leader healthcare benefits and insurance, is seeking a Contract SharePoint Cleanup & Site Design Specialist. This is a 100% remote role.
We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Cleanup & Site Design Contractor to support the People Organization initiative to modernize, clean up, and standardize SharePoint Online sites.
This role will focus on improving information architecture, usability, governance alignment, and AI readiness by reducing redundant and outdated content, redesigning site structures, and implementing consistent design and content standards.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of technical SharePoint expertise, strong information architecture skills, and a consultative approach to working with business stakeholders.
Required skills: - 5+ years of hands-on experience with SharePoint Online (Modern experience)
- Proven experience leading SharePoint cleanup, redesign, or migration initiatives
- Strong background in information architecture and content strategy
- Expertise in SharePoint permissions and site governance
- Experience designing metadata, content types, and managed term sets
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical guidance for business users
- Strong collaboration skills
Preferred skills: - Experience supporting AI enablement or Microsoft Copilot readiness
- Knowledge of retention labels and compliance concepts
- Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments
Daily Responsibilities: SharePoint Cleanup & Modernization - Assess existing SharePoint Online sites and content to identify redundant and outdated materials
- Execute structured cleanup activities, including content deletion, archiving, and site consolidation
- Modernize legacy or poorly designed sites to enable searchability through a chat bot.
Information Architecture & Content Design - Redesign site structures to improve navigation, findability, and usability
- Reduce folder sprawl and promote metadata-driven organization
- Align site and content design with enterprise standards and AI/search best practices
Site Design & User Experience - Design clean, intuitive SharePoint pages using out-of-the-box web parts
- Create consistent landing pages, templates, and page layouts
- Apply accessibility and usability best practices
- Ensure designs support role-based or audience-targeted experiences where appropriate
Governance, Permissions & AI Readiness - Review and remediate SharePoint permissions to support least privilege access
- Apply governance guardrails related to retention, versioning, and sharing
- Prepare sites and content to support Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled search, including clean metadata and reduced duplication
- Partner with internal teams to ensure cleanup aligns with compliance and governance expectations
Stakeholder Engagement & Documentation - Work directly with site owners and business stakeholders to understand content value and usage
- Provide clear recommendations and rationale for cleanup and redesign decisions
- Develop reusable documentation, guidance, and templates for ongoing site management
- Support change management by enabling site owners to maintain standards post-engagement
