We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer to drive the performance of a portfolio of programs focused on Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) and Prognostic Health Management (PHM) systems. This role includes mentoring a team of junior project engineers, serving as the primary technical interface for external customers, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to align program objectives and execution strategies.

The ideal candidate will manage risks, resolve technical challenges, and drive continuous improvements. This role also supports strategic technology advancement initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory, industry, and Collins Aerospace standards. What You Will Do
  • Lead program execution by owning and driving the performance of a portfolio of programs related to Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) and Prognostic Health Management (PHM) systems.
  • Mentor and develop talent by guiding, mentoring, and supporting the professional growth of four matrix-aligned junior project engineers.
  • Collaborate with customers by serving as the primary interface to address technical inquiries, program status updates, and design reviews.
  • Engage internal stakeholders by working closely with teams, including Program Chief Engineers, Program Managers, and Operations Leads, to align on program objectives and execution strategies.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks while addressing technical challenges to ensure program success.
  • Drive continuous improvement by leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to improve program efficiency, quality, and performance.
  • Support technology advancement by assisting with the implementation of Digital Controls Product Line strategic and technology initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance by adhering to regulatory and industry standards throughout all program activities.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Prior experience managing cross-functional engineering teams and overseeing complex programs through the full lifecycle while meeting schedule, cost, and quality targets.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Advanced degree in aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience managing program budgets and cost controls.
  • Experience developing proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively resolve technical and program challenges.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
