Job#: 3023218 Job Description: Apex Systems is hiring a Back-End Developer II with strong, production-level Rust experience to support a global media and entertainment client. This role sits within the Media Technology & Operations group, building backend services and workflow automation that power content ingestion, live sports, and media delivery pipelines.
We are looking for a developer who uses Rust as their primary language and is comfortable working in cloud-native, distributed environments. You will build and maintain scalable services, REST APIs, and state-aware workflows that support high-volume media operations.
This is a highly collaborative engineering team that values clean code, ownership, and continuous improvement. You'll partner with front-end developers, QA, architects, and operations teams to deliver reliable, observable, and secure backend systems.
Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on Rust development (primary language)
- Experience with async Rust, Tokio, Actix, Axum, or similar frameworks.
- Cloud infrastructure experience (5+ years)
- AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure; containerized deployments; CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience building scalable backend services
- REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, observability.
- Experience with workflow engines
- (SDVI Rally, Airflow, Step Functions, Argo Workflows, Jenkins, etc.)
- Experience with Node, Python, or C# is a plus
- (Secondary languages only - Rust must be primary.)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
