Hello,
Title :: Platform Bring Up Engineer
Location :: Fremont, CA
Job Type- Fulltime
job description ::
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to lead the hardware bring-up and low-level software enablement of our next-generation Augmented Reality (AR) platform. In this role, you will be at the absolute forefront of wearable computing, bridging the gap between cutting-edge silicon and advanced spatial computing frameworks.
Your primary responsibility will be the foundational bring-up of our AR hardware platform using Android XR. You will architect, develop, and debug kernel-space drivers, optimize critical display pipelines, and ensure seamless communication across high-speed interfaces like MIPI and QSPI. If you thrive on solving complex low-level engineering challenges to make immersive hardware a commercial reality, we want to talk to you.
Core Responsibilities
- Platform Bring-up: Lead the low-level software bring-up of advanced AR platforms using the Android XR operating system on Qualcomm Snapdragon architecture.
- Driver Development: Architect and write robust Linux/Android kernel-space display drivers utilizing the DRM/KMS framework.
- Subsystem Integration: Configure and optimize the Android display subsystem (SurfaceFlinger, Hardware Composer) to meet strict AR latency and frame-rate targets.
- Interface Enablement: Implement, tune, and validate high-speed protocols including MIPI DSI and QSPI for micro-display panels and peripherals.
- Hardware/Software Debugging: Collaborate closely with the hardware engineering team to isolate and resolve signal integrity issues, power sequencing anomalies, and bus protocol bugs.
Required Technical Skills
- Qualcomm Ecosystem: Direct, hands-on experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, with a strong preference for dedicated wearable/spatial computing chipsets (e.g., AR1, XR2 Series).
- Display Protocols & Interfaces: Expert-level knowledge of MIPI DSI and QSPI communication interfaces, including timing configurations and register-level tuning.
- Android & Linux Kernel: Proven experience in writing Android/Linux kernel drivers, particularly within the display framework (DRM/KMS), alongside deep familiarity with SurfaceFlinger.
- Programming Languages: Mastery of C and C++ for low-level embedded software, system-level development, and RTOS environments.
- Lab Equipment & Diagnostics: Proficient with hardware debugging tools, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and MIPI protocol analyzers to troubleshoot physical layer and protocol-level anomalies.
Good to Have (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Qualcomm proprietary development, flashing, and diagnostics tools (QPST, QFIL).
- Experience with cutting-edge micro-display technologies (Micro-LED, Micro-OLED, or optical waveguides).
- Deep understanding of strict power management, dynamic voltage scaling, and thermal optimization for ultra-compact, wearable form factors.
- Experience implementing or optimizing low-latency AR pipelines (e.g., asynchronous time warp, foveated rendering, or late-stage reprojection).
