About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and test embedded solutions for electronic systems. This role focuses on mid-layer and application-layer software development for telematics and display systems used across Caterpillar s product lines.

You will work on cutting-edge embedded platforms that power industrial equipment worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement embedded software from requirements through production
Develop mid-layer and application-layer software for telematics and display systems
Perform requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation
Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and deliver solutions
Troubleshoot and resolve system-level and software issues
Optimize system performance, scalability, and stability
Manage software lifecycle including version control and configuration management
Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and processes

Required Skills & Experience

5 7 years of embedded software development experience
Strong experience with Embedded Linux development (must-have)
Proficiency in C, C++, or Rust
Experience with Linux middleware and application development
Networking knowledge: Ethernet, TCP/IP, WiFi
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read hardware schematics and component datasheets
Experience with full software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Preferred Skills

Experience with telematics or infotainment systems
Bluetooth integration experience
Linux kernel development and device drivers
Knowledge of SPI, I2C, and hardware interfacing
Experience with Python or shell scripting
Familiarity with Git and configuration management
Agile development experience

Education

Bachelor s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Master s degree can be considered in place of some experience
