This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA.

What You'll do:

At CoStar Group, our engineering teams build innovative, scalable solutions while following industry best practices.
  • Work with real sensor data (imaging, depth/LiDAR, or test-bench measurements) to build models, tools, or analysis pipelines that help the team make faster, better-informed engineering decisions
  • Help develop or improve methods for analyzing optical, calibration, or reliability test data
  • Prototype approaches to problems like anomaly detection, signal/data processing, calibration modeling, or automated data quality checks
  • Collaborate with hardware, test, and software engineers to understand the problem before jumping to a solution
  • Document your approach and present findings to the team

We're looking for curious, adaptable students who are eager to learn, embrace new technologies, and apply strong software engineering fundamentals to solve meaningful business challenges. This role provides the building blocks for a strong and rewarding technical career, offering mentorship, real-world experience, and continuous opportunities for professional growth.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person university or college in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Robotics, or a comparable major.
  • Must have an expected graduation date of December 2026 - June 2027.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • At least 2 months of previous relevant internship or co-op experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for ML/data work (e.g., Python, C++, and/or MATLAB)
  • Experience applying software engineering fundamentals through coursework, projects, internships, or work experience.
  • Ability to discuss prior internship, project, or academic work, including the problem solved, technical approach, collaboration, and outcomes.
  • Comfortable working with real-world, imperfect data.

Preferred Qualifications and Experiences:
  • Exposure to any of the following (no specific combination required): PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, signal processing, computer vision, sensor fusion, or robotics
  • Experience with hardware, embedded systems, or physical test data (academic, personal projects, or professional)
  • Personal, academic, or capstone projects applying ML to a real dataset or physical system
  • Comfort moving between exploratory analysis and more rigorous engineering documentation
  • Curiosity about how hardware and ML intersect
  • Experience writing understandable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Interest in learning new technologies and building high-quality software.
  • Demonstrated initiative and collaboration through academic, internship, extracurricular, or team-based experiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices, the Software Development Lifecycle, APIs, web services, or application design concepts.
  • Exposure to programming languages, databases, cloud concepts, AI/machine learning, frameworks, or other technical tools through coursework, projects, internships, or personal learning.
