Staff Accountant

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Jacksonville, FL that is looking for a Staff Accountant. They will be responsible for handling commission-related activities, including preparing commission statements, reconciling accounts, and investigating variances.

Summary:
This role manages premium and commission receivables, ensuring timely coordination of payments across clients, brokers, and internal teams. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in the financial close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, supporting audit requests, and analyzing fluctuations tied to commissions. The position also requires strong collaboration across departments such as Sales, Underwriting, and Finance to maintain accuracy and consistency in commission processing, while building effective relationships with both internal and external partners.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role
* Prior experience within the insurance industry is preferred
* Foundational knowledge of profit-sharing models or retrospective commission structures
* Familiarity with a specific functional area or technical discipline
* Actively building and refining core professional skills and expertise
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functionality
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
* Experience with Oracle General Ledger is a plus
* Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when interacting with auditors, cross-functional teams, and external partners
* Self-motivated with a proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
* Capable of working autonomously with minimal oversight while making thoughtful, effective decisions to complete assigned tasks

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
