About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a Firewall Infrastructure Engineer located in Plano, TX or Charlotte, NC to support a project in the Banking sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

About You

The areas of focus for the Firewall Infrastructure role includes design, engineering, and implementation of firewall service requests aligned to the delivery of infrastructure services. The candidate should possess the ability to analyze and understand a variety of existing, and emerging, business/technical requirements.

This position will interface directly with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/providers, architecture, product engineering, product management, and business management. At times, they may interface with various levels of senior management. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are a must. The candidate must be able to work on their own and successfully in team settings in various sizes and locations. Adherence and use of standards, product sets, templates, systems, and artifacts are important to the success of the individual, the department, and the firm at large.
  • Assist in translating business requirements into technical designs for deployment in
    compliance with architecture standards and policies to ensure successful implementation into
    production
  • Act as a consultant on network technologies where they are a subject matter expert
  • Manage Service Request Fulfillment queue, including successful completion of requests and
    maintaining data quality standards
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal/external stakeholders
  • Facilitate and represent requests through Enterprise Change Management processes
  • Contribute to the technology strategy for end-to-end engineering solutions and provide
    feedback to the architecture teams

Required Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience working in Network Services
  • Experience with Network Technologies:
    o Firewall (Fortinet and Checkpoint)
    o Add, modify, delete Firewall rules, NAT rules and Object groups
  • Leadership: Self-starter, self-directed and shows initiative
  • Demonstrates ownership: Is accountable and can hold others accountable (professionally)
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understands network-based technologies and protocols; demonstrates competency (or
    capability to be successful) in the ability to translate business requirements into business
    solutions and successfully position with customers

Desired Skills

  • Industry Certifications in Fortinet NSE (1-8), Checkpoint CCTA, CCTE, CCSA, CCSE or
    equivalent experience
  • Industry Certification in Cisco CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE or equivalent experience
  • Skills in scripting; Python, Ansible, PowerShell
  • Automation Skills - Expect, Rancid, REST/SOAP
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience in Networking-related disciplines within a design, implementation, or operations
    role
  • Relevant Industry certifications in Network Technologies
  • Experience of working within Financial services (Insurance, Banking, Investment banking)
  • Experience with other network technologies:
    o Splunk, ECSL, WAN, MAN, LAN, Optical, Routing, Switching, Proxy/Threat Prevention, DDI,
    Load Balancing, and AAA
