Location: Burbank, CA 91521

Duration: 8-12 Months - possible extension 

 

SHIFT: 8 hours daily; 40 hours a week. Times and days to be set with IMAC manager based on change windows.


Job Description

We are seeking a Data Center / IMAC Technician to support Infrastructure Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMAC) activities across designated data center facilities. The technician will be responsible for hardware installation, relocation, decommissioning, structured cabling, remote hands support, inventory management, and data center documentation.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data center operations, copper and fiber cabling, hardware installation, ServiceNow/CMDB, DCIM systems, and remote hands support.

Key Responsibilities

Data Center Installation & IMAC

  • Receive, inventory, label, and tag incoming IT equipment.
  • Transport and install servers, network equipment, and other hardware according to rack and power assignments.
  • Perform equipment Moves, Adds, Changes, and relocations.
  • Install and route copper and fiber optic cables while maintaining proper cable management and airflow.
  • Install rack blanking panels and maintain organized rack layouts.
  • Perform fiber optic splicing and basic fiber-related activities.
  • Update ServiceNow CMDB, DCIM, inventory, and equipment records.

Equipment Relocation & Decommissioning

  • De-install, relocate, reinstall, and reconnect IT equipment and cabling.
  • Safely remove and package decommissioned equipment.
  • Coordinate local or cross-country equipment transportation and tracking.
  • Update inventory and asset management systems following equipment moves and removals.
  • Prepare equipment for disposal in accordance with security and environmental procedures.

Remote Hands / Data Center Support

  • Provide Level 1 remote hands support for data center operations.
  • Perform power cycling, component swaps, cable tracing, labeling, and basic hardware troubleshooting.
  • Assist with visual inspections, equipment identification, and inventory activities.
  • Support tape management and basic Telco circuit testing.
  • Coordinate with remote engineering and operations teams when required.

Structured Cabling

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and de-install copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Perform cable tracing, labeling, routing, and cable management.
  • Maintain patch panels and update panel schedules and documentation.
  • Ensure cabling is properly routed and does not interfere with equipment airflow.
  • Support data center shipping, receiving, and material-handling activities.

Inventory & Site Operations

  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment, cables, tools, and consumables.
  • Prepare monthly inventory reports and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Coordinate staffing and workflow across assigned data center locations.
  • Work with colocation providers and third-party vendors when required.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance, on-call rotations, and after-hours activities.

E-Waste & Security

  • Prepare decommissioned equipment for approved disposal.
  • Secure and document hard drives and other storage devices for shredding or destruction.
  • Submit and manage e-waste requests and coordinate with approved vendors.
  • Follow all data security, safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in data center, IT infrastructure, structured cabling, field services, or related technical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Experience installing, moving, replacing, and decommissioning IT hardware.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, CMDB, DCIM, or asset/inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of data center rack, power, patch panel, and cable management practices.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage electrical work and applicable safety/licensing requirements.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple locations.
  • Ability to lift, move, and transport data center equipment as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data center/site audit experience.
  • Experience with remote hands / smart hands support.
  • Fiber optic splicing experience.
  • Experience working in colocation data centers.
  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB and DCIM platforms.
  • Experience with Telco circuits and basic circuit testing.
  • Experience with IT asset disposition (ITAD) and e-waste processes.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call and after-hours maintenance activities.
