Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 per year

A bit about us:

Our client is a highly specialized manufacturer of advanced RF and antenna solutions serving commercial, business, and military aerospace customers. This company designs and builds mission-critical communication and navigation hardware that must perform reliably in demanding airborne environments. With fully integrated engineering and manufacturing operations under one roof, this company can move quickly from concept to production and support complex customer programs over the full product lifecycle. Founded more than 60 years ago, our client has grown into a recognized leader in its niche by combining deep electromagnetic expertise with precision manufacturing and stringent quality standards.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will join a close-knit team that collaborates directly with design engineering, quality, and operations to deliver new and existing antenna products at scale. You will be a key technical resource on the manufacturing floor, bridging the gap between design intent and repeatable, cost-effective production in a low-volume, high-mix aerospace environment.

Why join us?
  • Work on products that matter: you will support the manufacture of RF and antenna systems used on aircraft and other aerospace platforms where reliability and performance are critical to safety and mission success.
  • End-to-end ownership: this company's vertically integrated model means you see the full process-from prototype builds and process development through full-rate production and sustaining improvements-rather than owning just a narrow slice.
  • Hands-on, visible impact: you will spend significant time on the shop floor, working directly with operators and technicians to solve real manufacturing problems and implementing changes that quickly show measurable results in yield, throughput, and cost.
  • Stable, established business: our client has a long history in the aerospace market and a strong reputation with commercial, business, and military customers, providing a stable environment with a healthy mix of new development and legacy program support.
  • Collaborative culture: you will partner closely with design, RF engineering, quality, supply chain, and program management, gaining broad exposure across the business and the opportunity to influence product and process decisions early.
  • Professional growth: the role offers room to expand into technical leadership, NPI ownership, or people leadership as you demonstrate your ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and deliver sustainable process improvements.

Job Details

Core responsibilities:

  • Own manufacturing processes for assigned product families, including RF/antenna assemblies, machined components, and electronic/mechanical subassemblies, from initial release through sustaining production.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to ensure safety, quality, and repeatability.
  • Lead process development and industrialization for new products (NPI), including DFM/DFA input, process flow definition, routings, capacity planning, and first-article/qualification builds.
  • Analyze defects, yield loss, and process variation using structured problem-solving methods (8D, DMAIC, root cause analysis) and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
  • Specify, procure, and qualify production tooling, fixtures, jigs, and test/assembly aids to improve ergonomics, repeatability, and throughput.
  • Define and optimize process parameters for operations such as machining, soldering, brazing, bonding, plating/coating, RF assembly, and mechanical assembly, as applicable to the product line.
  • Partner with quality engineering to establish in-process controls, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria; support PFMEA and control plan creation and updates.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of lean manufacturing practices, including standard work, visual management, 5S, and layout optimization.
  • Provide daily technical support to production, troubleshooting equipment issues, non-conformances, and process deviations to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in supplier technical reviews as needed, supporting make-versus-buy decisions, manufacturability feedback, and resolution of supplier quality issues.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction and value-engineering projects by improving processes, reducing waste, and supporting design changes that maintain performance while lowering total cost.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering within aerospace, defense, RF electronics, precision machining, or a similarly regulated, high-reliability industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and improving processes in a low-volume, high-mix production environment, ideally with complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and basic statistical tools (SPC, capability analysis, DOE preferred).
  • Hands-on experience creating process documentation: routings, work instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, and time standards.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools for reviewing product designs and developing basic tooling/fixtures (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for routing management, BOM structure, and ECO implementation.
  • Proven track record of driving cross-functional problem solving and implementing sustainable corrective actions in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear guidance for operators, technicians, and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment and occasionally lift or handle light assemblies and tooling as needed to support hands-on work.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with RF or antenna products, precision RF connectors, or other high-frequency hardware.
  • Background in aerospace/defense quality systems (AS9100, NADCAP processes, or similar) and working to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Certification or formal training in lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous-improvement methodologies (e.g., Green Belt).
