Job Details

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop automation and process control solutions.
  • Support project development by assisting with controls hardware selection, system architecture, and project estimating.
  • Partner with electrical and process engineering teams to develop control system designs, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation packages.
  • Review design documents and installation drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop functional specifications and operational narratives for control systems.
  • Design, configure, and program PLC-based automation systems.
  • Perform system testing, startup support, I/O verification, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide operator training and technical support through project startup and production launch.
  • Support ongoing process improvements and troubleshooting efforts as needed.

What Makes You Successful
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation, instrumentation, and process control systems.
  • Experience developing PLC programs from the ground up and modifying existing control platforms.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation including flow, pressure, temperature, level, and analytical devices.
  • Familiarity with batch processing, recipe management, clean-in-place (CIP) systems, and industrial process controls.
  • Ability to interpret and work from P&IDs, control narratives, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial networking, and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and project coordination skills.
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing and industrial environments alongside contractors, maintenance teams, and operations personnel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting industrial process control and automation projects.
  • Experience within food & beverage, consumer products, manufacturing, process industries, pulp & paper, or similar environments.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA development platforms.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet-based industrial control networks.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and process requirements in highly automated manufacturing environments.
