Microsoft Copilot & Teams Engineering Specialist

Role Summary

Do you enjoy helping organizations unlock real value from Microsoft 365, Teams, and generative AI? In this role, you will serve as the organization s primary specialist for Microsoft Copilot (60%) and Microsoft Teams administration and engineering (40%). Embedded within the IT department, you will partner closely with business leaders, attorneys, staff, Information Security, and Compliance teams to deliver secure, scalable AI and collaborationdriven solutions.

You will lead the configuration, rollout, and ongoing operation of Microsoft Copilot while also supporting the engineering, governance, and optimization of Microsoft Teams. Your work ensures that both advanced AI capabilities and core collaboration systems operate safely, reliably, and effectively within a highly regulated enterprise.

This hybrid role requires inoffice presence at least three days per week.



Key Responsibilities

Copilot Administration & AI Solution Delivery (Primary - 60%)

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Microsoft 365 Copilot across business units.
  • Maintain tenant-level Copilot settings, licensing, data boundaries, and integration points across M365.
  • Oversee Copilot Guardrails, safety controls, and enterprise readiness configurations.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for Copilot escalations, performance issues, and usage optimization.

Custom AI Agent Development

  • Build and manage custom AI agents using Copilot Studio to support organizationspecific workflows.
  • Ensure correct permissions, secure data source connections, and compliant access to Teams, SharePoint, and other repositories.

Workflow Optimization & Use Case Discovery

  • Partner with attorneys, staff, and department leaders to identify and evaluate highimpact AI and automation use cases (summarization, drafting support, document comparison, research assistance, meeting prep, etc.).
  • Translate business requirements into secure, scalable AI or Teams-based solutions.



Teams Engineering & Collaboration Systems (Secondary - 40%)

  • Support advanced Microsoft Teams administration, including policies, meeting settings, Teams Rooms, call flows, messaging governance, and integration with SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Assist with Teams lifecycle management, Teams governance enforcement, and crosstenant collaboration controls.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for Teams-related incidents, including voice, calls, meetings, and performance issues.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, monitoring, incident response, and major updates.



Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all Copilot and Teams configurations align with internal governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and support Microsoft Purview controls including DLP, retention, eDiscovery, and ethical wall policies.
  • Collaborate with Security Governance and Risk teams on audits, reviews, and continuous improvement.



Documentation & Enablement

  • Produce clear SOPs, knowledge articles, user documentation, and training materials.
  • Deliver training and adoption sessions for Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Teams.



Technical Collaboration

  • Work closely with Infrastructure, Applications, Security, Knowledge Management, Training, and external vendors to support ongoing operations, integrations, and issue resolution.



Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years supporting Microsoft 365 in a medium to large enterprise.
  • Minimum 1 year direct experience deploying or managing Microsoft Copilot.

Technical Skills

  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration skills with emphasis on Teams and Teams governance, along with SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Exchange Online.
  • Experience with Copilot configuration, deployment, and Copilot Studio agent development.
  • Solid understanding of Teams architecture, policies, Teams Rooms, and voice/calling fundamentals.

Security & Compliance

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview (DLP, retention, eDiscovery) and governance frameworks for regulated industries.

Automation & Scripting

  • Proficiency with PowerShell; experience with Power Automate or Power Apps is a plus.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve advanced M365, Teams, collaboration, and AI-related technical issues.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with non-technical users.
  • Proactive approach with ownership of projects and continuous improvement.

Preferred Industry Background

  • Experience working in a law firm or similarly regulated professional environment.
