The successful candidate will contribute to new features, existing system improvements, and scalable software solutions that support evolving product and business needs.

The ideal candidate brings practical software development experience, an interest in control systems, and the initiative to identify opportunities for improvement. Working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams, this individual will evaluate existing controller platforms, gather feedback on system performance and functionality, recommend modifications, and help develop implementation plans. Success in this role requires sound technical judgment, a willingness to ask questions, and the ability to take ownership of assignments while collaborating with others.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Three years of relevant professional experience developing, testing, or maintaining software applications, preferably involving embedded systems, industrial controls, connected applications, or related technologies.
  • Experience with software development, troubleshooting, and debugging in a professional or project-based environment.
  • Ability to evaluate technical requirements, contribute to software design decisions, and develop maintainable, reliable solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Ability to travel less than 10%.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, and C in Linux-based environments.
  • Experience developing or modifying software for embedded systems, industrial controls, or power-generation equipment.
  • Familiarity with Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) controllers or comparable control-system platforms.
  • Working knowledge of control-system architecture, controller functionality, and software configuration or modification.
  • Experience integrating embedded software with server-based applications, web services, or application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Experience developing and maintaining web or mobile applications, including enhancements, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Familiarity with software design patterns, application scalability, system interoperability, and maintainable code.
  • Experience participating in Agile development, collaborative design reviews, and technical planning.

Essential Duties
  • Develop, test, and maintain software features and functionality using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
  • Contribute to integrated software solutions that use embedded and server-based systems to monitor and control power-generation equipment.
  • Develop new applications, enhancements, and fixes for existing web and mobile applications while following established coding standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate existing controller platforms and control-system architecture to understand system capabilities, identify potential modifications, and recommend improvements.
  • Gather feedback from engineering and other stakeholders regarding current system functionality, performance, and opportunities for improvement; help develop and implement plans to address identified needs.
  • Evaluate technical approaches and contribute to selecting cost-effective solutions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability, and business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain application designs, APIs, user specifications, and technical documentation to support product requirements and interoperability with internal and external systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, resolve software defects, and improve system reliability and functionality.
  • Participate in collaborative design sessions, Agile planning, and retrospective meetings while staying current with emerging technologies and software development best practices.
  • Take ownership of assigned work, exercise sound technical judgment, communicate challenges, and proactively seek clarification when requirements or system behavior are unclear.
