Summary

Digital Payment Processing Developer

Hybrid: Remote and on location work as needed along the Turnpike (Onsite work is usually 3-4 days per month)

 

Description of Duties
1. Responsible for connecting the different systems, applications, and technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, BRIM, Microsoft Dynamics 365, cloud telephony and IVR, web portals, mobile apps, middleware systems, document storage and retrieval solutions, cloud hosting, and more, to ensure they technically work seamlessly together for best in class performance.
2. Design, develop, and maintain backend services using tools such as .Net, and Go (Golang).
3. Build and optimize APIs, microservices, and cloud native distributed systems.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule and within budget.
5. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
6. Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
7. Stay current with .Net, and GoLang best practices and emerging technologies, applying best practices towards leveraging on-demand open APIs.
8. Design and develop scalable and resilient technical architectures to integrate SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Azure cloud services, IVR systems, and external systems for tolling projects (e.g., payment gateways, backend databases, traffic management systems).
9. Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles, best practices, and industry standards.
10. Utilize deep knowledge of Microsoft government and commercial cloud platforms (Azure) and SAP BRIM to architect solutions that comply with tolling industry regulations and operational requirements.
11. Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery and operational continuity.
12. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust digital payment solutions.
13. Ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
14. Evaluate and recommend appropriate payment platforms, APIs, and third-party services.
15. Implement robust security measures for data protection, encryption, and fraud prevention.
16. Ensure compliance with PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and other relevant regulations (SOX, SOC2/3, CSA, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.).
17. Optimize transaction processing speed, latency, and reliability and monitor system performance troubleshooting issues promptly.
18. Lead and participate in project team activities for enterprise systems.
19. Perform tasks and other duties as assigned by the PTC.
20. Analyze solution components and integration models for high-volume processing.
21. Identify opportunities to reduce data replication and integration.
22. Act as a continuous improvement agent to enhance technical integrations, streamline data flows, and optimize performance.
23. Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with technology staff, business owners, project sponsors, vendors, and key clients.
24. Fully document all created work associated with this position, including technical and functional designs and diagrams, test plans, test scripts, impact analysis reports, lessons learned, best practices for others to follow, plus any other documentation as required by the PTC.  This documentation shall follow the format and / or templates as instructed by the PTC.
25. Work independently to accomplish the tasks and duties assigned.
26. Adhere to and follow all PTC standards, policies, and procedures.
27. Perform tasks and other duties as related to this position and role and assigned by the PTC.

 

Minimum Experience
• 8+ years proven experience as a Senior developer or similar role with expert knowledge in integrating SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Azure cloud solutions, and IVR systems and integrations with external systems, specifically in high volume contact center modernization projects.
• 5+ years of hands on expertise in Payment Processing Applications development and maintenance, including newer digital payment methods on projects of various sizes and subject matters is required, but 8+ years’ of experience is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in backend development using GoLang.
• 3+ years of experience in backend development using .Net.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and decentralized microservices architecture.
• Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure).
• Proficiency with ADO, Git and version control workflows.
• Solid understanding of concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization in Go and .Net.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office 365 suite of business software including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus proficient in Microsoft ADO Testing Module.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing integrations with various external systems in the context of tolling projects (e.g., toll collection systems, traffic management systems).

 

Desired Skillset
• Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm).
• Background in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Prior experience with PTC tolling solutions is highly desired.
• Solid understanding of tolling industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with IVR systems design, development, and optimization, preferably in tolling or similar customer-facing environments.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure government and commercial cloud platforms, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) offering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.  Master’s degree preferred.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office 365 suite of business software including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft ADO Testing Module.
• Proficient with Agile methodologies using Microsoft Azure DevOps.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues specific to tolling projects.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, particularly in the tolling industry context.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
