Job Summary:
We are seeking an IT Field Services Technician to provide onsite workstation setup, installation, testing, cable management, and basic troubleshooting support for a new office/building deployment.
The technician will be responsible for preparing workstations for end users by installing monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, webcams, headsets, network connections, and other approved peripherals. The role will also perform basic L1 troubleshooting and validate that each workstation is operational and ready for user onboarding.
This is a hands-on onsite role requiring good knowledge of workstation hardware, peripherals, docking stations, display configurations, wired networking, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and structured cable management.
Key Responsibilities
- Workstation Setup and Deployment
• Unbox, assemble, install, and position workstation equipment.
• Install and configure:
o Single and dual monitors
o Docking stations
o Keyboards and mice
o Webcams
o Headsets
o Other approved workstation peripherals
• Connect workstation components to the appropriate power, network, USB, display, and peripheral interfaces.
• Install monitors onto designated workstation arms/mounts using approved tools.
• Configure monitor positioning, alignment, orientation, and resolution based on established standards.
• Configure and validate extended and duplicate display configurations as required.
• Connect wired network cables between the designated desk LAN port and docking station.
• Ensure all workstation components are securely installed and properly positioned. - Under-Desk Cable Management
• Organize and secure power, network, display, USB, and peripheral cables underneath workstations.
• Use approved cable management materials, including:
o Velcro straps
o Cable ties
o Cable trays
o Cable sleeves
o Raceways, where available
• Route cables in an organized manner to prevent loose or exposed cabling.
• Maintain a clean and professional workstation appearance.
• Ensure workstation cabling complies with applicable workplace safety and ergonomic standards. - System Validation and Testing
• Power on workstation components following installation and validate proper operation.
• Verify:
o Monitor functionality
o Display configuration and resolution
o Keyboard and mouse functionality
o Webcam and headset connectivity
o Docking station functionality
o Wired LAN connectivity
o Peripheral connectivity
• Confirm that all installed equipment is functional and ready for use.
• Perform final workstation readiness checks following installation or troubleshooting. - Basic Troubleshooting and Support
• Provide basic L1 troubleshooting for issues identified during workstation installation and validation.
• Diagnose and resolve basic issues involving:
o Monitors not powering on or displaying correctly
o Incorrect monitor resolution or orientation
o Extended or duplicate display configuration
o Keyboard and mouse connectivity
o Webcam and headset connectivity
o Docking station power and connectivity
o USB and display connections
o Wired LAN connectivity between the desk network port and docking station
o Basic laptop Wi-Fi connectivity
o Loose or improperly connected power, network, USB, and display cables
• Disconnect and reconnect cables, peripherals, docking stations, and power connections as necessary to isolate basic connectivity issues.
• Swap approved cables, peripherals, or docking stations using available spare equipment, where authorized.
• Re-test equipment after troubleshooting to verify resolution.
• Identify damaged, defective, or non-functional equipment and report the issue through the established escalation process.
• Escalate issues outside the technician's defined scope to the appropriate L2/L3, Network, EUC, Security, Application, or other support teams.
• Ensure workstations remain organized and in a safe condition when an issue cannot be immediately resolved.
Required Technical Skills
Candidates should have hands-on knowledge or experience in the following areas:
• Desktop and laptop hardware
• Workstation installation and deployment
• Single and dual-monitor configurations
• Monitor mounting and workstation arms

• USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, and similar workstation connectivity

Required Qualifications
• Previous experience in IT Field Services, Desktop Support, EUC Support, IT Deployment, or Deskside Support is preferred.
• Hands-on experience installing and configuring workstation hardware and peripherals.
• Basic understanding of desktop/laptop hardware and connectivity.
• Basic understanding of wired LAN and Wi-Fi connectivity.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic workstation hardware and connectivity issues.
• Ability to follow defined installation procedures, checklists, safety guidelines, and escalation processes.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an onsite deployment team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent workstation installation standards.
• Ability to perform physical onsite activities associated with workstation deployment, including unpacking, positioning, connecting, and organizing workstation equipment.
Preferred Skills
• Previous experience supporting large-scale office moves, new-building setups, workstation refreshes, or technology deployments.
• Experience with corporate Windows laptops and workstations.
• Experience working with enterprise docking stations and multi-monitor environments.
• Experience performing basic network connectivity troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with asset tracking and deployment checklists.
• Experience working within an enterprise IT support or ITSM environment.
Scope of Troubleshooting
The technician's troubleshooting responsibilities will primarily cover:

Issues requiring advanced troubleshooting or infrastructure changes will be escalated to the appropriate support team.
