Job Description SummaryThe 2nd Shift Test Engineer will work at the Houston Service Center to test Aero-derivative gas turbine engines. This role will help support testing of engines, provide technical support to test technicians, operations leadership, and to customers.
Job DescriptionEssential Duties & Responsibilities:- Responsible for monitoring engine testing and interpreting test results per applicable test manuals
- Provide technical support to resolve engine performance, combustion, or rotor dynamic issues
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of engine and test facility operational issues
- Review and approve test data for certified test reports
- Assist with test systems upgrades to accommodate new products or replacement of obsolete equipment
- Work effectively with a team that includes other Test Engineers, Test Technicians, Metrology, and Quality to achieve testing goals
- Coordinate consistent and effective shift-to-shift testing turnover and transitions
- Support leadership in strategic planning of manpower, equipment, and other resources
- Use technical experience and analytical thinking to resolve to test related issues
- Lead test cell improvement projects
- Develop and improve test technician skill sets
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Electrical/Aeronautical or two-year degree (Associates or Technical)
- At least 5+ years of relevant working experience in a test cell environment
- Work flexibility to support varying work hours, including weekends, and holidays as required
- Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English language.
Desired Characteristics:- Gas turbine performance testing
- Basic vibration analysis
- Experience with PLCs
- Experience with Woodward controls
- Experience with high-speed data acquisition systems (DAS)
- Experience working with rotating industrial machinery, i.e. reciprocating engines, turbine engines, compressors, pumps, etc.
- Understanding of thermodynamic combustion cycles
- Lean Manufacturing experience driving process improvements
- Six Sigma certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $91,400.00 and $152,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
