Summary

Job Title: Data Governance Specialist
Location: Houston, TX (4 days onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 months

Key Responsibilities

Define, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards across enterprise systems
Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure consistent data definitions, ownership, and usage
Drive data quality initiatives, including profiling, validation, and issue resolution processes
Establish and manage data stewardship practices across domains
Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and internal data policies
Facilitate stakeholder discussions to align on governance priorities and resolve data-related challenges
Support metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging initiatives
Monitor and report on data governance metrics and KPIs
Work closely with IT, analytics, and business teams to integrate governance into system and process design

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related domain
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, and data lifecycle management
Experience working with enterprise data systems and governance tools
Proven ability to engage and manage stakeholders across business and technical teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage concepts
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to data

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in large-scale enterprise environments
Exposure to data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or similar platforms
Background in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics
Knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
