Overview

The Experience plus Devices (E+D) Growth team is a Principal Software Engineer to help accelerate the adoption of Copilot and Microsoft 365. Our team is uniquely positioned at the strategic epicenter of E+D for revolutionizing the productivity business by delivering embedded experiences across the Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) that drive the growth of our company's cutting-edge generative AI solutions across the commercial and consumer spectrum. Our team tackles technical challenges across a diverse tech stack, with the solutions we deliver having a direct impact on the bottom line of the business.

This role requires strategic and creative thinking, as well as a passion for building technical solutions that address customer needs. This position is based at the Redmond campus with 3 days per week work in the office and 2 days per week work from home. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement secure, reliable, scalable, and sustainable software.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, data science, and design to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Lead by example and mentor others to develop, validate, release, and derive insights from software that enhances customer experiences as outlined above.
  • Champion customer-first design that leads to increased loyalty to Copilot and Microsoft 365. - Apply critical analyses to data to validate hypotheses and inform decisions.
  • Build and maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives, and in turn leverages that diversity to create more inclusive products for our customers.
  • Model a growth mindset by learning from others and sharing your learnings with others.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, leading and mentoring others to identify opportunities and improve the way our team works.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C++ or C#
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years experience working on C++ client applications and distributed server-side .NET systems.
  • 8+ years of software design and development experience.
  • Experienced architecting and implementing large-scale apps, experiences, or services that span multiple systems.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Passion for customers, design thinking, data analysis, and technology.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
