A growing manufacturer is seeking a hands-on machinist with a strong engineering mindset to work closely with engineering on a daily basis. This role connects engineering requirements with practical machining, tooling, fixture, setup, and production needs, primarily operating CNC lathes, with candidates who have strong CNC mill experience also considered. The ideal candidate understands the complete machining process, from reviewing prints and GD&T through setup, programming fundamentals, offsets, tooling, part location, and final machining.
Schedule: Full-time.
Compensation: $40.00 to $44.00 per hour, based on experience.
What You\'ll Do:
The Engineering Technician/Machinist operates CNC lathes (or CNC mills for qualified candidates) and works directly with engineering to translate requirements into practical machining, tooling, fixture, and setup decisions. This includes reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings, applying GD&T knowledge, and understanding and visualizing machining sequences and process steps.
The role performs hands-on CNC setup, including machine zeroing, tool setup, part location, and making offsets, using working knowledge of G-code and three-axis CNC equipment (four-axis exposure is valuable). The Engineering Technician/Machinist works with Fanuc controls on Doosan CNC machines, understanding fixture and tooling requirements throughout the machining process.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Strong CNC machining experience, preferably on lathes (CNC mill experience also considered)
- Engineering aptitude and ability to interface effectively with engineers
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Hands-on CNC setup experience, including machine zeroing, tool setup, part location, and offsets
- Working knowledge of G-code
- Experience with three-axis CNC equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mastercam experience
- CNC lathe experience over mill-only experience
- Four-axis CNC exposure
- Experience translating engineering requirements into practical machining processes
