Praescient Analytics is seeking a visionary Senior Data Architect to lead the modernization of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) technical infrastructure. In this role, you will be the primary architect behind a unified framework for metadata, master data, and reference data, enabling the CPSC to proactively protect consumers through advanced, cloud-native analytics.

The Mission

You will provide leadership in establishing a scalable, modern data architecture aligned with CPSC's strategic goal of transitioning from on-premises legacy systems to an open-source, cloud-native environment. Your work will directly support the "Sentinel" model-an AI-powered initiative designed to identify and mitigate product safety risks faster than ever before.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architectural Design: Design and implement flexible, modern architectures (e.g., Medallion/Layered architecture) to support scalable analytics and seamless platform interoperability.
  • Metadata Leadership: Develop a centralized metadata repository to catalog all data assets, including lineage, definitions, and quality metrics to enhance data trust and discoverability.
  • Master Data Management: Define authoritative sources for key entities such as product categories and manufacturers to ensure consistency across the entire agency.
  • Modernization & Migration: Lead the migration of legacy business processes to cloud-native or open-source platforms to improve cost-efficiency and flexibility.
  • Strategic Documentation: Create and maintain high-level architecture diagrams, technology stack details, and data lineage documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, analysts, and governance teams to ensure the architecture meets organizational objectives and security standards.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing data models, warehouses, and complex integration solutions.
  • Cloud Expertise: 3+ years of experience in modern cloud environments, specifically Azure Data Services.
  • Technical Skills: * Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.
    • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and API integration frameworks.
  • Communication: Strong ability to perform "data storytelling" and translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Preferred Requirements
  • Certifications: Microsoft Azure Data Engineer or Solutions Architect certifications.

What you can expect from us:
  • Real opportunity for career growth in an environment where your achievements will be celebrated
  • Constant collaboration with numerous teams to ensure client success
  • A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise
  • Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain
  • A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies

Benefits:
  • Very competitive salary based on qualifications and experience
  • Comprehensive, Company paid healthcare for you (We pay your premiums and deductibles)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Travel & performance incentives
  • 3 weeks paid time off (plus Federal Holidays)
  • $5K annual training allowance
  • $500 book allowance
