Data Scientist
Des Moines, IA (Hybrid)
Long term Contract
Work on AIdriven computer vision solutions for plant biology, building and maintaining imaging pipelines that support Doubled Haploid (DH) breeding. Role focuses on Pythonbased model development, microscopy and hyperspectral image analysis, and productionready CV workflows.
Key Responsibilities

Develop deeplearning CV models (detection, segmentation, classification) for microscopy and macro imaging.
Build productionready Python pipelines integrated with GitLab and experimenttracking tools.
Implement hyperspectral workflows (preprocessing, feature extraction, modeling).
Standardize imaging processes with biology teams (microscopy, RGB, hyperspectral).
Measure and report model performance (precision/recall, F1, ROC/AUC).
Scale pipelines for largebatch processing and optimize inference performance.
Collaborate with DH, biotech, breeding, and data science teams to meet deployment milestones.
Maintain strong documentation, reproducibility, and IPsafe practices.

MustHave

4 6 years handson in computer vision with Python (PyTorch/TensorFlow), including detection/segmentation/ classification for scientific or industrial imaging
Proven ability to productionize models: Git/GitLab, code reviews, CICD basics, experiment tracking (MLFlow or equivalent), reproducible data/experiments, and clear documentation
Experience with microscopy image processing, multipage TIFFs, zstacks, autoscale/normalization, and image quality challenges
Familiarity with hyperspectral or multispectral imaging pipelines (preprocessing, dimensionality reduction, modeling) applied to plant or biological materials
Track record of measurable model performance reporting
