Our client, a leading global private equity (PE) firm with over $80 Billion in AUM and 50+ years in business, is seeking a full-time Data Architect to work hybrid out of their beautiful Midtown Manhattan location (hybrid schedule of M-W onsite, Th-Fri remote).

They focus on growth investing, building world-class businesses around the globe. They are developing a cutting-edge data analytics platform built on Microsoft Fabric, designed to enable scalable, efficient, and real-time insights. We leverage modern data lakehouse architectures, PySpark, and best-in-class data modeling principles to drive business intelligence and analytics.

Role Overview:

Seeking a highly skilled Data Architect / Data Modeler to design and implement an enterprise-wide data architecture that aligns with business needs and analytics goals. This role will be responsible for defining and managing data models within a Delta Lakehouse architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and integrity. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake, Data Vault) and excellent analytical and communication skills to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop enterprise data models to support business intelligence, analytics, and operational reporting.
  • Define and implement best practices for data modeling in a lakehouse environment, ensuring models support business needs effectively.
  • Architect data structures for performance, scalability, and governance, leveraging concepts such as Star Schema, Snowflake Schema and Data Vault.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytical, and operational data needs, ensuring models are aligned with business objectives.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers to translate logical data models into optimized physical data models in Microsoft Fabric and Delta Lake.
  • Develop data governance frameworks, including metadata management, data lineage tracking, and data quality assurance.
  • Define and maintain canonical data models for key business domains, ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Guide ETL/ELT strategies to ensure data integrity and optimal performance in Fabric s Medallion Architecture.
  • Establish and document data modeling standards, ensuring adoption across engineering teams.
  • Review and optimize existing data models, identifying areas for improvement in performance, maintainability, and business alignment.
  • Advise on the selection and implementation of data modeling tools and metadata management solutions.

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or database design.
  • Expertise in data modeling methodologies, including Dimensional (Star/Snowflake), relational and Data Vault.
  • Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases, including SQL, NoSQL, and Delta Lake architectures.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, and Medallion Architecture.
  • Experience designing data models for enterprise analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
  • Strong SQL skills for data modeling, query optimization, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and integration strategies.
  • Understanding of cloud-based data architectures, preferably in Azure (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and translate business needs into data models.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with business and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Data Vault implementation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for metadata management and governance.
  • Knowledge of KQL for querying data logs in Azure environments.
  • Experience with Graph Data Modeling and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
  • Exposure to machine learning feature stores and analytical model design.
