Senior DevOps Engineer - Atlassian Migration & Cloud Transformation

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with Atlassian Migration expertise to lead the migration, modernization, and optimization of Atlassian platforms including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jira Service Management. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience migrating Atlassian environments from Server/Data Center to Atlassian Cloud or between enterprise environments while ensuring minimal business disruption.

The candidate will work closely with Infrastructure, Development, Security, PMO, and Business teams to plan, execute, validate, and support enterprise-wide Atlassian migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migration of Atlassian products including:

  • Jira Software

  • Jira Service Management (JSM)

  • Confluence

  • Bitbucket

  • Bamboo

  • Crowd (if applicable)

• Assess existing Atlassian environments and develop migration strategies.

• Plan and execute migrations from:

  • Jira Server to Jira Cloud

  • Jira Data Center to Atlassian Cloud

  • Confluence Server/Data Center to Cloud

  • Bitbucket Server/Data Center migrations

• Perform application upgrades, integrations, and platform modernization activities.

• Migrate projects, workflows, boards, dashboards, filters, custom fields, attachments, and permissions.

• Migrate Confluence spaces, pages, templates, macros, and user permissions.

• Implement automation using Jira Automation and Atlassian APIs.

• Configure SSO, SAML, LDAP, Active Directory, and identity integrations.

• Integrate Atlassian tools with CI/CD platforms and DevOps toolchains.

• Develop migration runbooks, validation plans, rollback procedures, and operational documentation.

• Troubleshoot migration issues, plugin compatibility challenges, and data integrity concerns.

• Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance and governance requirements are met.

• Perform post-migration validation, performance tuning, and user support.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Atlassian Administration experience.

• 5+ years of hands-on Jira and Confluence administration experience.

• Strong experience with Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA/CCMA).

• Experience migrating Jira and Confluence from Server/Data Center to Cloud.

• Expertise in Jira workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, dashboards, and automation.

• Strong understanding of Confluence space administration and content migration.

• Experience with Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jira Service Management.

• Experience with SAML, SSO, Active Directory, LDAP, and identity integrations.

• Strong scripting skills using Python, Groovy, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Experience with REST APIs and Atlassian automation frameworks.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
