Overview

The Data Analytics and Insights Specialist supports the development of data solutions, dashboards, reporting tools, and visualizations that help the CDC Foundation improve organizational and programmatic effectiveness, assess program performance, and communicate mission impact.

This position works across program and organizational teams to understand reporting needs, analyze operational data, and translate information into clear, actionable insights. The role also supports the configuration and ongoing improvement of Smartsheet solutions, including forms, reports, dashboards, workflows, and automations.

The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and follows a hybrid work schedule. Relocation expenses are not provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Interpretation
Analyze operational and program data to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities.
Perform data exploration, manipulation, validation, and evaluation to support recurring and ad hoc reporting needs.
Assist stakeholders in interpreting data and understanding the factors that affect program and organizational performance.
Prepare summaries of analytical findings and communicate results in clear, practical language.
Support the development and monitoring of key performance indicators, objectives and key results, and other performance measures.
Contribute to organizational reporting by compiling, validating, and analyzing data from multiple sources.
Provide data-informed observations and recommendations under the guidance of program, analytics, or operational leadership.

Reporting and Data Visualization
Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Smartsheet and other approved reporting or business intelligence tools.
Transform operational and program data into clear visualizations and reports for leadership, program teams, and other stakeholders.
Develop recurring reports that provide timely information about program activity, operational performance, and organizational priorities.
Apply established data visualization and reporting standards to promote consistency, clarity, accuracy, and accessibility.

Smartsheet Solutions and Business Systems Support
Build, configure, and maintain Smartsheet forms, sheets, reports, dashboards, workflows, automations, and cross-sheet formulas.
Support the development and maintenance of user-friendly Smartsheet toolkits that align with defined program and business processes.
Assist with mapping current workflows and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and strengthen reporting.
Participate in the testing and quality assurance of new solutions, updates, automations, and reporting logic.
Support the IT department with troubleshooting routine Smartsheet, dashboard, reporting, and workflow issues and escalate complex technical matters as appropriate.
Assist with connecting information from Smartsheet, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, financial systems, and other approved data sources.
Support solution enhancements and system updates using established change management, testing, and documentation practices.

Data Quality and Documentation
Perform quality assurance checks to verify that reports, dashboards, and source data are complete, accurate, consistent, and timely.
Assist with identifying and resolving data-quality issues in collaboration with system owners and business stakeholders.
Document report definitions, calculations, data sources, workflows, business rules, and operating procedures.
Follow established data governance, privacy, security, and records management requirements.
Support data audits, reconciliations, and other quality-control activities as assigned.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting standards, data dictionaries, user guides, and technical documentation.

Collaboration, Training, and User Support
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support reporting, analytics, solution implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide training, office hours, and one-on-one support to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, and other resources that support effective use of Smartsheet and reporting tools.
Explain technical concepts, reporting logic, and analytical findings to nontechnical audiences.
Promote data literacy, sound reporting practices, and effective use of organizational data.
Become familiar with and maintain a working knowledge of CDC Foundation programs and activities.
Participate in staff activities, projects, and assignments and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Necessary Skills

Required
Bachelor's degree in data analytics, public health, program evaluation, information systems, business, computer science, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
At least three (3) years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, program analytics, business systems support, or related field.
Experience analyzing data and translating findings into reports, visualizations, and practical insights.
Experience developing reports or dashboards using Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, Salesforce, Excel, or a comparable platform.
Experience designing end-to-end Smartsheet solutions incorporating forms, reports, dashboards, formulas, cross-sheet references, automations, and advanced platform capabilities.
Proficiency with Data Shuttle, DataMesh, and/or Bridge by Smartsheet.
Working knowledge of spreadsheet analysis, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and data preparation.
Basic knowledge of relational database concepts and structured queries or demonstrated ability to learn SQL and related data tools.
Experience gathering business or reporting requirements from stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, organize priorities, and meet established deadlines.
Ability to explain data and technical concepts to users with different levels of technical expertise.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to handle confidential or sensitive organizational and program information with discretion.

Preferred
Experience with Salesforce reporting, customer relationship management systems, enterprise resource planning systems, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with data visualization principles and executive-reporting practices.
Experience supporting nonprofit, public health, healthcare, government, or mission-driven organizations.
Smartsheet Core Product Certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
Exposure to data governance, data-quality management, business process mapping, or system implementation projects.
