Job Title: Platform Engineer

Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Platform Engineer to support RTX in building and scaling advanced cloud-native platforms that enable AI/ML, automation, and modern application development. This role will focus on designing, integrating, and operating Kubernetes-based platforms using GitOps and infrastructure-as-code best practices.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Kubernetes platform engineering, experience supporting centralized platform teams, and the ability to integrate AI/ML capabilities into production-grade systems. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can operate across infrastructure, automation, and application enablement while driving engineering standards and mentoring team members.

Top Skills (Must Haves):

• Deep Kubernetes (K8s) expertise in enterprise platform environments
• Strong experience with GitOps tools and practices (ArgoCD)
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience with platform tools such as Istio, Kyverno, Crossplane, and Backstage
• Experience supporting centralized platform teams serving multiple application teams
• Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments
• Proficiency in Python and software development (SDLC, CI/CD)

What You'll Be Doing:

• Act as a system integrator for APIs, SDKs, and automation tools to deliver AI/ML and platform capabilities
• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable, production-grade platform solutions
• Manage and operate Kubernetes environments using GitOps (ArgoCD) and Terraform
• Enable and support AI/ML capabilities including MLOps, AIOps, and GenAI integration into production systems
• Collaborate with product managers, technical leadership, and engineering teams to deliver platform solutions
• Ensure platforms are scalable, observable, resilient, and aligned with best practices
• Maintain both high-level architecture and low-level system design perspectives
• Support CI/CD, automation pipelines, and engineering standards
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and drive best practices across teams
• Contribute to documentation, technical support, and knowledge sharing

Nice to Have / Additional Notes:

• Experience building or supporting platforms for AI/ML and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Familiarity with service mesh (Istio) and policy management (Kyverno)
• Experience with developer self-service platforms (Backstage)
• Experience with Crossplane for infrastructure orchestration
• Strong experience in multi-cloud environments
• Familiarity with REST APIs, Node.js, and SQL
• Experience in large-scale, multi-disciplinary engineering teams
