Job Title: Senior Flink Solution Architect

Location: Reading, PA (Remote)

Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Flink Solution Architect with strong expertise in Flink to design and deliver scalable, real-time data solutions. This is a purely technical architecture role (not a leadership/people management position), requiring deep experience in distributed systems and real-time streaming using Flink.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design end-to-end data architectures including ingestion, processing, storage, and analytics layers aligned to business goals
• Develop and optimize real-time streaming solutions using Flink and related technologies
• Assess and recommend appropriate tools, frameworks, and platforms based on technical and business requirements
• Build data integration pipelines connecting multiple sources such as APIs, databases, and streaming platforms like Kafka
• Architect systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available for large-scale data processing
• Create clear architecture documentation, solution designs, and best practice guidelines
• Define and communicate architecture vision and future roadmap
• Work closely with data, platform, and security teams to ensure aligned solutions
• Support engineering teams in adopting cloud-native, hybrid, and on-prem architectures
• Drive implementation of containerized solutions using Kubernetes in cloud environments
• Identify gaps in existing systems and propose modernization or optimization strategies
• Design and oversee robust data platforms leveraging modern cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in system design and development
• Establish standards for deployment, monitoring, and operational excellence
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve enterprise data models
• Clearly explain architectural decisions, trade-offs, and technology choices to stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (10+ years in IT)
• Strong hands-on experience with Flink and Kafka (mandatory)
• Advanced proficiency in Java and strong backend development experience
• Proven expertise in designing highly scalable, resilient, and high-performance systems (5+ years minimum)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to leadership

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Python and modern data ecosystems
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Familiarity with cloud-native development (AWS preferred)
• Knowledge of data storage systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and S3
• Understanding of enterprise integration patterns (EAI)
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Awareness of data security and access control standards
