Voyatek is seeking applicants to occupy the position of Network Engineer within our team. Please note that this position requires a commitment to full-time employment and is not open to contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, deploy, and support Fortinet firewall and network security solutions
- Design and maintain firewall policies, NAT, VPN connectivity, and routing
- Apply network security best practices including segmentation, least privilege, and defense-in-depth principles
- Support secure network architectures across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments
- Implement and support Azure and AWS networking components
- Apply industry best practices for network security including encryption in transit, logging, monitoring, and secure access
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, and security issues across Layer 3–7
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation activities
- Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver secure client solutions
- Maintain technical documentation such as network diagrams, firewall rule sets, and as-built documentation
- Support maintenance windows, vulnerability remediation, upgrades, and disaster recovery testing
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in network engineering or network security roles
- Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall platforms, including Fortinet
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching concepts
- Solid knowledge of network security fundamentals including firewall design, VPNs, access control, and secure connectivity
- Experience supporting Azure networking services
- Working knowledge of AWS networking concepts
- Experience supporting hybrid network environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to successfully pass state or government background checks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fortinet certifications (NSE 4 or equivalent)
- Azure or AWS cloud certifications
- Experience with additional networking or security platforms (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, cloud-native firewalls)
- Experience supporting state government or other regulated environments
- Familiarity with network monitoring, logging, and security alerting tools
- Experience in consulting or managed services environments
The wage range for this role reflects the wide array of factors considered in compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure and certifications, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are based on the unique facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual range is $102,250.00 - $120,000.00.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. It is classified as exempt under applicable law. Additionally, this position aligns with the Voyatek Career Framework as a level 03 individual contributor in a Systems Engineering position.
