Role - Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to take ownership of the technical design and security engineering for critical systems. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the full lifecycle of system security, from defining requirements and embedding security controls to working with the ISSO guiding the system through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO).
Key Responsibilities
Architect, engineer, and integrate security requirements into information systems and their components through intentional security design and configuration.
Provide direct technical engineering support for the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes to achieve Interim Authority to Test (IATT) and Authority to Operate (ATO).
Engineer, implement, and harden robust security solutions, including firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to defend against emerging threats.
Conduct enterprise vulnerability scanning with tools such as ACAS, perform risk remediation, and assess security controls to ensure compliance with DoD directives and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
Perform system hardening, security log collection, and audit reviews to maintain a strong security posture.
Required Skills
Active TS/SCI Clearance.
5+ years of experience as an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) or Information System Security Officer (ISSO).
5+ years of experience guiding a system through the complete Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to obtain an Authority to Operate (ATO).
Strong Linux background, general Microsoft Windows and Active Directory experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of DOE, IC, or DoD cybersecurity policies, IT systems, and communication architectures.
Expertise in engineering and implementing security solutions, including system hardening, audit log review, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools.
DoD 8140 IAT Level II Certification.
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or a related field with 3+ years of experience; OR
Associate's degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience; OR
9+ years of cybersecurity experience in lieu of a degree.
