Role Summary
This position requires an experienced land and rights of way specialist responsible for managing acquisition and permitting functions related to new construction and operational projects. The role involves developing project pipelines, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating permits, while negotiating legal agreements and handling claims. It is an integral role that supports project development with minimal supervision from the Land Manager or Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Perform land acquisition and rights of way functions for new construction and operational projects.
- Develop preliminary pipeline routes, project schedules, and cost estimates.
- Prepare and review reports related to easements, land titles, and landowner claims.
- Negotiate and execute legal agreements associated with land and property rights.
- Identify and secure permits from private, local, state, and federal agencies.
- Assess claims, negotiate settlements, and process payments for damages.
- Assist with the development of project documentation and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external entities to facilitate permitting and acquisitions.
- Ensure all processes adhere to relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of property rights, claims, and permits.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in land acquisition, rights of way, or related fields.
- Active Broker or Broker-in-Charge license with the North Carolina Real Estate Commission.
- Strong understanding of real estate laws, permitting processes, and negotiation strategies.
- Proven ability to develop project estimates, schedules, and reports.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
- Willingness to work on-site at designated locations.
- Available to start immediately or within a short timeframe.
- Familiarity with project management tools and documentation.

Publishing Pay Range: $45.00 - $47.00 hourly
