Level: Senior
About the RoleWe're looking for a highly skilled
Senior Tableau Developer who brings both technical depth and strong ownership. This person will play a critical role in building, enhancing, and maintaining executive-level dashboards used by leadership up to the VP level. The ideal candidate is detail-obsessed, proactive, vocal in planning discussions, and thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
This is not a junior or purely visual design role - we need someone who can think critically, innovate, and elevate the quality of our analytics experience.
What You'll Do- Develop, enhance, and maintain executive-level Tableau dashboards with exceptional attention to detail, visual polish, and consistency (fonts, formatting, layout, alignment).
- Build and optimize advanced Tableau calculations, parameters, and complex logic to support business needs.
- Work exclusively with Tableau Server (not Tableau Cloud) - currently on 2024, with migration to 2025 planned.
- Act as a "firefighter" when issues arise: quickly break/fix dashboards, troubleshoot errors, and resolve performance problems without waiting for other tasks to finish.
- Provide feedback and testing support during the Tableau 2025 upgrade, including identifying errors, load-time issues, and performance gaps.
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineering (who owns all ETL and data transformations) - you will not be responsible for creating data sources.
- Use SQL to understand, validate, and troubleshoot data sources
- Reverse-engineer existing dashboards (approx. 20 total), identify improvement opportunities, and propose enhancements or redesigns.
- Create new dashboards and features over time as business needs evolve.
- Participate actively in planning sessions, offering ideas, improvements, and alternative approaches.
- Manage multiple dashboards with varying levels of activity and maintenance needs.
What We're Looking For- 7-10+ years of Tableau development experience, with a strong portfolio of executive-level dashboards.
- Deep expertise in advanced Tableau calculations, performance optimization, and dashboard architecture.
- Experience working with Tableau Server environments.
- Strong SQL skills; ability to read, validate, and troubleshoot SQL-based data sources.
- Extreme attention to detail - the hiring manager has an "eagle eye," and quality matters.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize urgent issues, and shift quickly between break/fix work and planned development.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable speaking up, offering suggestions, and driving improvements.
- High initiative and ownership - someone who holds themselves to a high standard and consistently delivers polished, reliable work.
- Innovative mindset - able to propose new ideas, UX improvements, and creative solutions.
- Testing or QA experience is a plus, especially related to platform upgrades.
Work Environment & Perks- Hybrid schedule: Onsite in Westlake, TX three days per week (Tue/Wed/Thu) - some flexibility available.
- All equipment, building access, and parking provided.
- Collaborative team environment with strong support from Data Engineering and leadership.
- Opportunity to influence dashboard strategy, UX, and long-term analytics direction.
