Position Description
Help Desk Agents are responsible for:
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Learning all election content outlined in the Help Desk manual.
• Providing excellent customer service to the election workers of Harris County.
• Helping other election departments as needed. (projects/ Front desk backup)
• Must be able to multitask. (speak on phone, type on computer, read from manual)
• Arriving on time for shift.
• Knows when to ask for support and or clarity.

Requirements
Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
• One (1) year customer service experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to work under stress and able to work without direct supervision.
• Knowledgeable of the general operations of an election and the Harris County website.
• Be professional and have good interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office suite, and be willing to learn new computer programs and applications.
• Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and possess excellent communication skills.
• Understands and can explain the ePollBook application and the voting process.

Preferences

General Information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

• Temp Full-time | Position End Date: May 29, 2026 (Qualified individuals may be asked to work future elections.)
  
  • This is a temporary position being onboarded through a Harris County-contracted agency.
  • Days and hours of work are covering every day of the week, though individuals are normally not scheduled to work more than 5 days a week.
  • 30 - 35 hours per week with the possibility of overtime in high-need time of election periods. | Work week = 5 days a week, must be able to work weekends.
  • Holiday's off (Thanksgiving week, Christmas vacation, 01/19/2026, 04/03/2026, and other holidays not yet schedule.
  • Between election periods hours will be reduced and mandatory vacations will be scheduled.
  • During election: shifts range from 8 - 10 hours. Three mandatory days in the election, shifts will range from 14 - 20 hours
  • Time off request can be submitted at designated times.
  • Black off periods for no time off are 02/09/2026 to 03/10/2026.

Salary:

• $17.00 Hourly

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Seated at desk in warehouse.
• This job is primarily a sedentary role, walking and standing are required only occasionally.
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
