ServiceNow Architect - Houston, TX or Oklahoma (Onsite)
Position Summary
We're seeking a skilled ServiceNow Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and maintainable platform solutions. Based onsite in the Houston, TX area or Oklahoma, this role works closely with business analysts, process owners, IT teams, and stakeholders to optimize workflows, enhance user experience, bolster security, and improve operational performance. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on experience in ServiceNow configuration, scripting, and solutions architecture within complex enterprise environments - with ITOM at the center of their expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead solution architecture, technical design, and platform governance for enterprise ServiceNow solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop high-quality applications, workflows, and platform enhancements.
- Make informed technical design decisions, balancing business needs with platform scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Analyze requirements, configure applications, and develop custom UI pages, widgets, workflows, and automation tools.
- Design and implement IT Operations Management solutions - Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB/CSDM - and support accurate configuration management data across the platform.
- Build and manage Service Catalogs, fulfillment workflows, and self-service portals, with supporting work across ITSM, SecOps, CSM, SPM, and SAM.
- Monitor platform health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance in compliance with security and regulatory standards.
- Document technical designs, support testing processes, troubleshoot defects, and uphold application quality.
- Provide technical guidance to development teams and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
- Support the implementation of SecOps modules, automate IT operations using AIOps, and support monitoring integrations.
- Define technical architecture, integration patterns, data flows, and solution designs; evaluate platform requests for fit and scalability.
- Lead design reviews, ensure platform governance, and minimize unnecessary customization to reduce technical debt.
- Support integrations with enterprise systems via REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Server, and other tools.
- Offer guidance on platform upgrades, release planning, and long-term technical health.
- Stay informed about ServiceNow features, emerging technologies, and platform best practices to foster innovation and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in an IT Architect role.
- At least 6 years of experience with ServiceNow configuration, scripting, and development.
- ITOM required - demonstrated hands-on expertise with Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB/CSDM in complex enterprise environments. Exposure to ITSM, SecOps, CSM, SPM, SAM, and GRC/IRM is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated success designing and implementing ITOM solutions, including MID Server configuration and CMDB health/governance.
- Experience leading architecture and solution design efforts beyond basic configuration and development.
- In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, data models, security (ACLs), workflows, Flow Designer, integrations, CMDB, and CSDM concepts.
- Skilled in using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and MID Server for integrations.
- Strong familiarity with ITIL frameworks, automation, and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
- Experience with governance standards, platform upgrades, release management, and technical debt management.
- Able to produce solution design documents, technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and process flows.
- Professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ServiceNow Architect experienced in onsite roles and open to converting to full-time employment.
- ServiceNow certifications: CSA and CAD.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in ITOM, Discovery, or ITSM.
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) highly desirable.
- Curiosity about and hands-on use of AI tools in platform work.
