Job Description Senior Business Analyst (Banking & Risk Management)
Experience: 10 12 Years
Domain: Banking & Financial Services Risk Management
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with strong Banking and Risk Management expertise to drive business analysis, requirement gathering, and solution delivery for banking risk initiatives. The ideal candidate must possess deep knowledge of banking operations, risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and financial risk processes, with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear functional specifications and actionable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirement gathering, stakeholder discussions, workshops, and business process analysis for banking and risk management initiatives.
- Analyze and document business requirements, functional specifications, BRDs, FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process workflows.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of banking risk domains, including credit risk, market risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, and enterprise risk management.
- Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Finance, Technology, Data, and Operations teams to define business requirements and deliver risk solutions.
- Analyze risk exposure, risk indicators, limit monitoring, portfolio performance, and risk reporting requirements.
- Support risk data analysis, data quality validation, reconciliation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Translate regulatory and business requirements into functional specifications for technology and data teams.
- Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, root-cause analysis, and process improvements across banking risk workflows.
- Define and execute UAT strategies, prepare test scenarios, validate business outcomes, manage defects, and obtain business sign-off.
- Manage requirements traceability, stakeholder communication, change requests, and end-to-end delivery throughout the SDLC.
- Support Agile delivery through backlog refinement, sprint planning, prioritization, and coordination with development and QA teams.
Mandatory Requirements
- 10 12 years of experience as a Business Analyst within Banking and Financial Services.
- Strong, demonstrable experience in banking risk management projects; generic banking operations experience alone is insufficient.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one major risk domain: Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Liquidity Risk, or Enterprise Risk.
- Proven experience in requirement elicitation, BRD/FRD preparation, functional documentation, process mapping, and stakeholder management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret risk data, identify business gaps, and translate findings into functional requirements.
- Experience with UAT planning, test-case preparation, defect management, and business sign-off.
- Ability to work independently with senior business stakeholders, risk managers, technology teams, and delivery teams.
- Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Good to Have
- Exposure to Basel III/IV, regulatory capital, stress testing, risk appetite, or regulatory reporting.
- Experience with SQL for data analysis, reconciliation, and validation.
- Familiarity with risk platforms, data warehouses, risk reporting systems, or enterprise risk management tools.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and managing complex cross-functional deliveries.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The candidate must be a senior, hands-on Business Analyst who can independently manage complex banking risk requirements from discovery through implementation and UAT. Candidates with primarily project coordination, generic banking operations, or non-risk-focused BA experience will not be suitable.
Key Screening Priority: Strong banking domain knowledge, direct risk management project experience, and proven end-to-end Business Analyst ownership are mandatory.
