Job Title
Senior Alteryx Developer (with Informatica Background)
Role Summary
The Senior Alteryx Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting advanced analytics and data preparation workflows using Alteryx, while leveraging a strong Informatica (PowerCenter / IDMC) background to understand upstream data pipelines, transformations, and dependencies.
This role bridges traditional ETL pipelines and modern analytics workflows, enabling faster insights while ensuring data integrity, performance, and alignment with enterprise data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Alteryx Development & Analytics
- Design, develop, and optimize Alteryx workflows for data preparation, transformation, analytics, and reporting use cases
- Build reusable, scalable, and performance optimized Alteryx solutions
- Develop analytical datasets to support business intelligence, dashboards, and advanced analytics use cases
- Automate data workflows, scheduling, and handoffs to downstream systems
Informatica Pipeline Understanding & Integration
- Analyze and understand existing Informatica PowerCenter and/or IDMC pipelines, mappings, workflows, and task flows
- Trace data lineage from source systems through Informatica ETL to Alteryx workflows
- Partner with ETL and platform teams to align Alteryx logic with enterprise transformation rules
- Validate that Alteryx outputs are consistent with Informatica based business logic and metrics
Data Analysis & Validation
- Perform data profiling, reconciliation, and validation across Informatica and Alteryx layers
- Identify gaps, redundancies, or optimization opportunities between ETL pipelines and analytics workflows
- Support data quality checks and exception handling
Performance & Optimization
- Optimize Alteryx workflows for performance, memory usage, and scalability
- Recommend where transformations should reside (Informatica vs Alteryx) based on volume, complexity, and SLAs
- Support troubleshooting of data issues caused by upstream pipeline failures or changes
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with data engineering, BI, and business teams to translate requirements into Alteryx solutions
- Support UAT, production validation, and release cycles
- Provide documentation for workflows, logic, and data dependencies
Mentorship & Best Practices
- Mentor junior Alteryx developers and analysts
- Promote best practices for workflow design, governance, and maintainability
- Contribute to standards for hybrid ETL + analytics architectures
Required Skills & Experience
Core Experience
- 8+ years of overall data / analytics experience
- 5+ years of hands on Alteryx Designer development experience
- Strong working experience with Informatica PowerCenter and/or Informatica IDMC
- Proven ability to read, understand, and trace Informatica ETL pipelines
Technical Skills
- Alteryx Designer (advanced tools, macros, analytic apps)
- Strong SQL (complex joins, aggregations, performance tuning)
- Solid understanding of ETL concepts, data transformations, and scheduling
- Experience working with large, enterprise scale datasets
Data Platforms
- Experience with relational databases and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
- Understanding of batch data pipelines and analytics consumption layers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ETL modernization or pipeline rationalization initiatives
- Exposure to IDMC Cloud Data Integration (CDI / CDI PC)
- Experience supporting BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
- Alteryx certifications (Advanced / Expert preferred)
- Experience in telecom, financial services, or large enterprise environments
