Job Category: Oracle DBA/Exadata Migration Specialist Candidate must be experienced in Oracle Database Administration, Architecture, and Configuration with hands on experience in migrating databases to Exadata and cloud platforms using multiple methods and technologies. Experience with Oracle releases 19.x and 26.x, RMAN, Data Guard, scripting and automation is required. Familiarity with the full license feature set such as multitenancy, advanced compression, partitioning, cloud management pack is preferred. Hands-on experience with Exadata Critical Patch updates preferred. Must be willing to work alternate shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and weekends during the engagement as required. Project Scope:
The University of Wisconsin – Madison is replacing the current Exadata Cloud at Customer (C@C) X9 servers with Exadata Cloud at Customer (C@C) X11 servers. High availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) for the databases will be configured as the environments are installed and databases moved from the Exadata X9s to the new Exadata X11s.
The successful completion of the project will result in migrating all databases (both ERP and non-ERP) from the current Exadata X9s to the new Exadata X11 architecture with HA and DR configured as required.
This position is for an Oracle DBA expert to help UW with the migration, tuning, and troubleshooting of the database environments from the Exadata X9 servers to the Exadata X11 environment.
Goal of Engagement:
1. Review current database Exadata architecture – create/help create a new Exadata database architecture.
2. Create/help create a migration strategy/plan.
3. Migrate/assist with migration of databases to new Exadata.
4. Provide tuning, troubleshooting, automation where required.
The consultant will complete the project in conjunction with UW-Madison personnel.
