The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance - District 1, has a full-time vacancy for an Engineering Technician I - III.

SUMMARY:

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I: To perform basic technical engineering duties for a highway district.

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II: To perform technical engineering duties for a highway district including permit review, construction inspection, design, survey and specification development for materials and equipment.

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III: To perform and assist in supervising technical engineering duties for a highway district including permit review, construction inspection, design, survey and specification development for materials and equipment.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I:

Education: High School diploma or high school equivalency credential

Experience: Two years of experience as an Engineering Aide, one year of which shall have been at a level equivalent to Engineering Aide II.

OR

Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering, landscape, architecture, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, agronomy, geology, soil science or earth science.

Experience: No experience required

License/Certification: Valid driver's license

Other Requirements: Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency

Trainee Option: Candidates with an equivalent combination of 1+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in 'trainee status' for this position.

Researches pre-construction technical data including survey, right of way, estimates, engineering drawings, materials list and specifications to enable the construction/reconstruction of State highways and maintenance facilities.

Coordinates various programs within the district including, but not limited to, Sponsor A Highway, hazard tree, and the district's tree removal program.

Assists with managing the district's seasonal weight restriction program. Conducts field reviews as necessary to ensure appropriate management of the program.

Performs work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.
