Summary

Job Title: IT Healthcare Consultant Software Engineer Project Lead
Location: Remote (Candidates from GA, NC, or SC are preferred)
Duration: 12 Months

Project Overview

The consultant will support healthcare technology systems for a public sector agency. This includes maintaining and enhancing critical clinical systems such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), PACS, Pharmacy systems, and associated integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Support implementation activities including system build, testing, and go-live for healthcare applications (EHR, LIS, PACS, Pharmacy systems, etc.)
Collaborate with vendors, clinical teams, and technical staff during deployment and ongoing support
Maintain healthcare IT infrastructure including applications, databases, templates, and reporting tools
Troubleshoot and resolve EMR-related issues; perform triage, escalation, and root cause analysis
Develop and generate reports for stakeholders and end users
Document workflows for medical and behavioral health providers
Assist in system integrations and interoperability initiatives

Required Education / Certifications

Bachelor s degree in one of the following:
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Health Administration
- Business Administration
- Mathematics / Statistics
- Biological Sciences or related field
Relevant experience in healthcare IT, project management, and health services

Preferred Certifications

NextGen Connect Certification
EHR Certification
Practice Management Certification

Required Skills (in order of importance)

7+ years of experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) (preferably NextGen)
7+ years of experience with Mirth (NextGen Connect) / Lab Systems
7+ years of experience in EMR Integration
7+ years of experience in Interoperability and Data Exchange
7+ years of experience in Healthcare IT Operations
Experience working with State Government agencies

Preferred Skills

Experience with HL7 Messaging
Experience with FHIR standards
