Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced Power Plant Controls Operator to join our team. This is an incredible opportunity for a seasoned professional to make an immediate impact in our fast-paced, growing energy organization. The individual will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of power plant controls, turbines, auxiliary equipment, spark-ignition reciprocating engines, and Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS). This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and control power plant equipment, including turbines, auxiliary equipment, and spark-ignition reciprocating engines to generate electricity.
- Monitor and inspect power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.
- Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power or to regulate the flow of power between generating stations and substations.
- Control power plant systems, including the Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS), to ensure efficient and safe plant operations.
- Perform regular maintenance and repair work on power plant control equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Record and compile operational data, such as temperature, pressure, and power output readings, and system malfunctions.
- Develop and implement systems for controlling, testing, or recording power plant emissions.
- Collaborate with engineers and other power plant operators to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest trends and developments in power plant control systems and apply this knowledge in the operations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Power Plant Controls Operator or in a similar role within the energy industry.
- Proven experience with power plant controls, turbines, auxiliary equipment, spark-ignition reciprocating engines, and Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS).
- Strong technical understanding of power plant operations and systems.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical fitness, with the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- A relevant certification or degree in a related field is preferred.
